WE'e already heard Cube with Lil John, and it actually wasn't bad, but 7 songs is ridiculous. And Too Short is gonna sound horrible over crunk beats.............John is also doing E-40's album, he's ruining the westcoast. But he's also prolly the only guy who could make E 40 sell some records, and get Too Short back doing some numbers.
I think this kills any chance that Dre and Cube will work together extensively
-
I rather see 3 producers on 1 album than 14 producers on 1 album.
-
wow ::) that's pretty gay, I could handle 1 or 2 but geez..... dude is annoying on the mic and on the beat
Ice Cube and Lil' Jon ::)
-
omg more then 2... 1 or 2 ok... but more jesus ::)
-
damnit i hate this era
-
damn. bad newz as far as im concerned
-
Why? Grand Finale is a dope track and Real Nigga Roll Call is the motherfucking shit! I'm looking forward to this 8)

^^^ it's just principle, that's really gay that they are gonna go so low and be so commercial appealing and have him do a lot of tracks because stupid ass bitches like his gay antics, it's all just a gimmick to fit the description of what some big industry fag told them to do, obviously they wanna sell records, I'm not stupid, but fuck, what about a lot of real hip-hop fans that hate Lil' Jon? I'm sure hardcore Ice Cube fans and Too $hort fans are kinda shaking their heads, it's something new obviously but it just doesn't seem right, especially for Ice Cube, and the tracks he did for Too $hort on him last album sucked so bad, to me it's like they are saying they don't care about the old fans and they are trying to go the 'pop' route, just because they are gonna sell out like that, I don't want that shit, I'd feel like a tool if I dropped $15+ on it 8)

You should try to care about good music.

What's that track? Haven't even heard about it...
-
^ it's on crunk juice.
-
Why are people acting like Too Short hasn't been working with Lil Jon closely for about 5 years now??? Idiots. Short has proven he can make a hot joint over a Lil Jon beat. But this is DubCC I can't expect anymore. This can only help both Short and Cube... And the West.

Lil' Jon = tool & fad for clubs and high school bitchez

he is right ^
-
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
And Too Short is gonna sound horrible over crunk beats............
he already had plenty of lil jon beats on his albums and it was pretty good, i loved that shake ya monkey joint
i just hope he doesnt scream YEA YEA OK all the time
-

i agree ^

I know $hort and Jon have worked together in the past, and I dont wanna c it again in the future. If you like derrrrrty producers all ova west coast albums thats up 2 u, but it aint my preference
-
everyone can have their own opinion and thats cool, but me personally aint feeling LiL John rippin all over Cubes and Shorts albums... one or two tracks is alrite but i just find him and the whole crunk sound too much and no matter what you say their gonna be a lot of commericial sound to it... I'd just rather Cube and Short keep the album and influences on it mainly westcoast.
-
SGV: i guess i'm an idiot, i had no idea Short had worked with Lil John previously. Briefly listened to his last two albums, wasn't feeling them at all compared to his old shit, he shoulda stopped after Gettin It like he said.......
ANd ya, Grand Finale is a dope track, but 7 songs is pushing it. I wish Lil John would stay away from artists i like and keep making joints for Jessica Simpson and Hilary Duff (Material Girl remake)...............
-
Ice Cube gonna spit on 7 beats given by a producer who is set to work with Jessica Simpson, Hilary Duff, and last but not least PARIS HILTON ::). Need I say more ?
-
but Lil Jon is a real gangsta. You could tell by the way he runs in the Roll Call video
-
It's not a decision I like personally, but they sure as hell will sell more records if Lil Jon is producing a large chunk of the album, cos right now Lil Jon's everywhere.
I guess this means no Dre/Cube collabo for '06.
-
fuck crunk music its shit west coast is all bout laid back music thats why i support it i dont wanna listen to some shitty lil jon beat i wanna wind down to u no how we do it.
cube jus jumpin on wats popular to sell when he dont need to do that
-

You know that South Crunk music...wa influenced by the Bay right? so if ur dissin the crunk u r dissin....

^Exactly
-
Listen to "Bitches Aint Shit" with Snoop, Nate and Suga Free then come back to the thread morons.
-
Im tired of those DUBCC fuckers that only listen to more bounce to the once

Too Short isnt even on the West COast anymore...and its been a fucking long time
-
cube jus jumpin on wats popular to sell when he dont need to do that
so that makes ice cube a sell out
-

I love bustin 'real nigga roll call' when im drunk that track is proper aggressive Cube killed it.
7 lil jon tracks? I thought cube said this was going to be his most personal album? Coz i dont think hell be rappin personal shit on 7 crunk tracks.
Neptunes and Swizz beats were meant to be the other two producers on his next solo so it seems not much space for Dre or any of the westcoast producers like fredwreck a lot of us would of liked to hear. Shit only if sir jinx n the bomb squad would make a comeback.
At least we know hes recording an album bout time doughboy.
-
too short already had 2 lil jon beats on one of his last cd's( i think married to the mob or something like that) and the tracks were tight ass fuck.so better listen first, and than judge
-
ice cube and lil jon ::)
-
Listen to "Bitches Aint Shit" with Snoop, Nate and Suga Free then come back to the thread morons.
LOL you beat me to it. exactly what I was thinkin. Look, honestly, I'm not a Lil Jon fan at all. but after listening to "Bitches Ain't Shit", I was very impressed.
1) Impressed that he even shows the West love in the first place.
2) Impressed that he was able to work outside of his chosen Crunk style, and compose of a beat rather that would fit the styles of the guests he had featured on that track.
It takes a damn good producer to step out of his comfort style and really tend to the need of the main featured artist. I don't see these colabs as a bad thing, becuase I think Lil Jon can do this. even though I don't like his music, he has my respect as a producer. and honestly guys, do you think he's gonna give two west coast heavy weights 7 crunks beats apiece?
I remember a rather semi great producer named DJ QUIK doing a beat for Jay Z. quik didn't shove his style down his throat, rather he custom made a beat that would fit Jays style the most. that's greatness.
-
It's a different song for Cube, not my favorite but not bad.
-

Holla!!!
Jon makes more than Crunk beats, but DubCC never explores past the Radio/MTV (though they hate any and everything that comes through there).
-
short been working with lil jon for years
-
Production line up for Cube so far: Lil Jon, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, The Neptunes
Cube sounded good over the "Grand Finale" beat but 7 songs by Lil Jon is pushing it a bit. Maybe they recorded 7 songs but only 1 or 2 will end up on the final album?
-

^^That sounds more realistic to me...I think Cube's gonna sound dope over those Lil' Jon beats, he was dope on "Roll Call" & "Grand Finale" so I've got a feeling these new tracks will be off tha hook too...
-
Too Short = Sell Out
i dont even consider him a westcoast artist anymore.
-
I rather see 3 producers on 1 album than 14 producers on 1 album.
Man...that is so true!
-
damnit i hate this era
-
Too Short = Sell Out
i dont even consider him a westcoast artist anymore.
damm you fool, he does a song or an album with lil jon and you label him as a sell out, he has been in the game for more than 15 years, shut up
-
I'm looking forward to hearing this shit. There is no way Cube gonna be rappin over 7 crunk style beats. Lil Jon is going to give him some westcoast sounding tracks guaranteed. Does anyone know if Lil Jon produced Anybody See the Po Po's? Cause that shit is hot.
-
Production line up for Cube so far: Lil Jon, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, The Neptunes
wow, I won't be touchin this bullshit
it's funny how like 3 people think this is a good idea and everyone else is shitting on these projects
Addicted to Beef is right, these dudes sold out hard
-
Yup, and before you know it Justin timberlake is on the album too. :(
-
^^^^lmfao at Lil Jon outrunning 2 sports bikes and then jumping off a bridge onto a truck.....and btw, Im pretty sure Too $horts Gettin It album in 96 was the first time Lil Jon was ever on a major release
-
I duno? Did Lil Jon produce that track with Snoop, Nate and Suga Free? If he did, that was one of the tightest westcoast sounding beats Ive heard in awhile.
-
someone hook it up if its dat good i wanna hear it i didnt like roll call tho to be honest,
and i do like bay music i aint heard much but the stuff i have heard is nice,
i dont like crunk music tho its really poor and doesnt appeal to me since im into rappers like rakim, nas, tribe called quest, naughty by nature etc, music wit deep and good lyrics not like that shitty wisper song or "Till the sweat drips from my balls, My balls, my balls" thats not my taste in music.
I dont thikn cube is a sellout either jus think he has crossed over since he is a well known actor now, and the fact U can do it did so well in the uk last year
-
I duno? Did Lil Jon produce that track with Snoop, Nate and Suga Free? If he did, that was one of the tightest westcoast sounding beats Ive heard in awhile.
YES aka BITCHES AIN'T SHIT
-
This could be dope I mean...some of Lil Jon's beats are cool as long as he doesn't say a word in the song, and it doesn`t have the same vibes as ying yang twin songs...I guess we`ll see.. what are the due dates for all the albums?
-
^^ late 2008
-
Ice Cube gonna spit on 7 beats given by a producer who is set to work with Jessica Simpson, Hilary Duff, and last but not least PARIS HILTON ::). Need I say more ?
Ice cube is also the same dude makin lame movies like are we there yet.....does it really surprise you?
besides....1) we haven't heard the songs yet so they could be good. 2) Lil jon has come up with some dope beats lately...that song he did with styles p is sick
-

wow wtf
1. lil jon's beats bang. as long as he's not featurd on 7 songs, i dont see a problem here.
2. how is he "ruining the westcoast"? by providing good production that will lead to radio play?
3 . i dont expect dre to do much for the ice cube project. maybe 2 songs IF wer lucky
-
well first off, do you guys really think that the fact little john is producing tracks is going to make a big difference in album sales..
and its not even so much that he is producing all these tracks, its just like a trend. less producers that you are used to, and less west coast features that you'd expect. what happened to spice 1, c-bo etc being on cd's as features.. just look at e-40's albums, they all progress further away it seems from what we were used to. you cant compare the last too short to something like get in where you fit in. its just my opinion. i miss seeing e-40 doing more songs with the rest of the click and all that
-
IS LIKE LOYAL 2 THE GAME
-
Lil' Jon is way overrated. He has heat here and there, I'm not going to be ignorant and say he has never done anything good, but as far as I'm concerned, Cube and Short are taking 10 steps backwards in the business. I guess I'll just have to hear how it sounds.
-
7 lil jon beats on an ice cube cd is just absurd. you act like ice cube is gonna put out 7 singles...that's all lil jon is good at producing.....club singles
anyone that is happy to see lil jon doing most of the beats on a cube cd had to start listening to cube around '99- 00
-

you may be right. Though honestly I would prefer these legends (Cube, Snoop ..) retired instead doing wack shit which gonna discredit them. Even though , they are big legends.

Cube wants to get in touch with the new generation. That's what he's trying to do by hooking up with Lil Jon...
-
And this is why the West never blows up. Two OLD ass rappers make an effort to reinvent themselves and all there is, is hate. Lame asses. Oh well. Never complain about the West not blowing up. NEVER.

Im tired of those DUBCC fuckers that only listen to more bounce to the once

i wanted to keep my mouth shut but damn SGV, or svg, you sound like a real internet tough guy. a real scary guy who has time to post thousands of times. I'm not about to get into an internet battle with someone, but you need to relax cause we aren't impressed. oh please don't diss me on an internet message board! nooo! you know so much more about music than us, we are all so wack compared to you. LOL!
-
UH... What was tough about my post? The truth must've hit home, huh?
-
in the end, all of us like different things, we all have different backgrounds and why we prefer a certain sound over another. so its basically like, just cause something is new doesn't make it good, and just cause somethings whats old and what we are used to doesn't make it a classic. right?
-
Phil... Work on your English.
The point is... Too Short and Cube are trying to reinvent themselves, something most old ass West Coast rappers don't do, and this is the response they get. Hate before you even hear it. You guys have NO clue what direction they're going in. So Phillip, shut up for a minute. Thanks.
-
that's why I call you a tough guy. cause not many other people try and talk shit on an internet board.what do you want me to say? Maybe a lot of people out there aren't like you and dont like how they are reinventing themselves And i guess you know a lot more about them because you work on a website. Anyone who has a life outside of the internet should rise up and say to people like this guy, man your a loser. yeeeah, ok. lol. for now I'm done with this because I'm getting scared that you might send me a virus. LOL. make way for SGV, he's too $horts manager and he knows everything thats gonna happen. bye winner, flame me if you want, it won't affect my life.
-
SGV, yes I'd rather never hear a new Cube record again than see him do this to himself. He has too big of a legacy behind him to go off and make something that he was against for 10 years of his career. Cube was always the guy on the top of the charts just because he was that good, not just because he made a hot single with a gimmick. I suppose if he pulled a Krayzie Bone and just had him produce the beat and left Lil Jon out of the song, it might turn out alright, but the move is just not him. Too Short on the other hand, he makes music for ladies who want to shake their asses. I understand that.
-

Where am I talking shit? LOL @ You hurt.

Ice Cube is in his 30s. He's not the revolutionary he once was. He's grown up and has a new outlook, ever thought of that? He has a family now. He has a new bunch of people to make music for... His kids. So, until I hear it, I'm not gonna hate. I'm glad to see two rappers that really have never really reinvented themselves actually make the effort now. Though it is kinda late...
-
ice cube never reinvented himself?
-

Ice Cube probably gets along with Lil Jon and he probably likes his music. Ever thought about that?
-
ice cube never reinvented himself?
Not much. Only time he reinvented himself was when he left NWA and went solo. He went back to his NWA mentality though and has remained that way since...
-
you ever heard the bitch in yoo? common breaks it down for you.
-
Phil... Work on your English.

you ever heard the bitch in yoo? common breaks it down for you.
Heard it... But that isn't my basis. Sorry.
-
id be surprised if all 7 songs made the cut.
-
I approve this move ;D..i want to hear some ice cube on some lil john beats...i want to hear some new ice cube music period!!..i really liked "real ngga roll call" & that other song on .....i think it was on the crunk juice CD 8)
-
yeah you can always reinvent yourself....but hasn't he already did the club music? how is doing more club music reinventing himself? i'd rather see him retire than come out with some garbage cd, with garbage production that's not gonna sell /12 of what his cd's have sold in the past...
this is gonna end up like snoops last cd... alienate the majority of his old school fan base, and pick up some fickle 13 year old white girls
you can be idiots and call me names like that one douche bag that didn't agree with me...but i really don't give a shit. i won't be the fool spending my time downloading garbage or wasting money on some shitty radio tunes... i'll leave that to the "smart" people
-
lil jon ruined too short imo...he aint the same if ant banks aint doin the tracks..too short was 1 of the 1st rappers 2 fuck wit jon..he had his times...wit jon..bet after awhile..it all sound the same...n got played
now.. cube n chalie hustle.. he brings fire out of them 2 niggas...
e-40 can flow on pretty much nething n it will be the shit.. give him a monkey with 2 sticks a skillet n a wok....n 40 will make that monkey's production the shit... the avg rapper cant flow 2 half the shit 40 gets..
cube ..imo cube had the best verses on jons whole album..n he was spittin like back in the days...he was a beast wit it..
-
shiiit lil jon can make some real g'd up shit, but it its different g'd up shit, its like he got crunk music and then crunksta joints,lol.......its sick but with cube for 7 joints i unno playa...........i'll wait and see before i decide cuz cube one of the best to ever do it........so its gotta be crazy rite??? hope so.......wouldnt mind if the other 7 were produced by dre, then it'd be crazy! haha, cant hate on cube no matter what he does, as long as he dont let justin timberlake on his album like snoop did....but on the real, i'll wait n see when it drops! WHEN being a factor......
yo off topic......this crooked joint cali boys is muthafuckin heat, still no end to the spins its gettin!
-

The music they make is definately going to be something that is different. I'll give you that. But what gets to me a little is he just did a Westside Connection CD that wasn't up to par with the majority of his previous work, and by the sound of what he is planning, I am not confident that he will put out a good product. But just like all of these Dre threads I comment in though, it's not anyone's decision but his. I think he should just retire from the music game altogether. That's is my opinion.
Ice Cube probably gets along with Lil Jon and he probably likes his music. Ever thought about that?
That's all fine and dandy. I'm just skeptical about the music they'll make together.
-
I agree with $, I think it's time for Ice Cube to hang it up. I don't want to see him ruin his legacy. I for one, didn't like Real Nigga Roll Call and the thought of having lil Jon, Swizz Beats and the Neptunes produce his album doesn't appeal to me.
-
This could go either way - good or bad. Yeah it's true, Cube sounded great on Lil Jon's beats before and Lil Jon can make "West Coast-ish" tracks like Bitches Ain't Shit, and make it sound real proper. So there's definately potential based on what they've done before. But still - this is Lil Jon after all, the king of crunk. This shit could easily slip into pop-club mode.
But we'll see. I'm waiting to hear it before I judge it. I'm confident they can make it work, I'm just not sure if they will make it work.
On a side note, I'd still have them West Coast producers make tracks for Cube any day instead of Lil Jon, or the Neptunes or Swizz beats or any of them.
Hope he hooks up with Dre though, just for one track at least.
