Supposedly price per fuel barrel is at an all time high, so i was just wondering how is it effecting your country's prices? See whose expensive, whose not, etc
In Australia a majority of the states (except QLD) are paying around $1.18AU per litre ($4.45AU per US gallon), so in other words;
$3.44US per gallon ($0.91US per litre)
-

fuck..where's that at and why so expensive?
LOL @ syphoring out of cars, would be easier to just do a drive off (fill up and not pay). I work at BP part time whilst at uni, and drive offs happen quite regularly when the price is high.
I dunno why petrol's been so expensive the last few months, supposedly we keep getting told it has something to do with the Iraq situation. Economists aren't worried because it's not a supply problem, so i guess that means the price 'should' come down. No idea when though
-
in iraq its 5 cents a gallon lol

Yea, the Shell on Woodman and Victory...
-
At the mo' it's $1.55 for regular unleaded here in NZ, it includes 5c tax the govt. implemented earlier this year. I dunno how much that would be in US dollar exactly, but it would be close to $3.00.

they about to protest about the high prices over here..
i made this post >> http://www.dubcnn.com/connect/index.php?topic=88456.0
quote from it on topic with this post..
"The average prices across the country is 94.2p a litre (thats $1.75 a litre in US money)"
dunno what that translates to in gallons.

1 liter = 0.2642 gallons 1 gallon = 3.7852 liters
-
cool.. i just realised google coulda have told me
so.. 3.7852 * $1.75 =
$6.6 a gallon in the UK right now
thats over double what it is in the US
my boss just got back from holland and he said its even more expensive over there too!
-
http://www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net/
Some people don't half get excited eh?
-
lol... well with regards to my other threads.. i thought panic buying today was better since i can last on the full tank in my car until the panic is gone :)
-
Lorry drivers are cunts. Last protest really helped didn't it?
-
^ yeah it did.. for 6 months they froze the tax
as prices go up the govt. makes more too.. coz its a percentage..
so last time they lowered the percentage to counter balance it..
so they always got about the same amount.. they always got more than they had before anyways..
difference this time is.. the price relative to inflation is actually lower than it was in 2000.. even though pump prices are higher..
-
Where should the tax get cut from though? Fuel protest won't change anything. Everything will go back to normal in a fortnight with people continuing to pay high prices.
-
yeah this time round i cant see much justification...
i just stocked up now to make sure i'm not affected by the panic.. apart from getting a clear run to work from people not using their cars :D
-
holy crap...$6.6 in the UK? My condolences, thats ridiculous

In May 2004, Simmons explained that in order for demand to be appropriately controlled, the price of oil would have to reach $182 per barrel. Simmons explained that with oil prices at $182 per barrel, gas prices would likely rise to $7.00 per gallon.
Simmons predictions are downright tame compared to what other analysts in the world of investment banking are preparing themselves for. For instance, in April 2005, French investment bank Ixis-CIB warned, "crude oil prices could touch $380 a barrel by 2015."
If you want to ponder just how devastating oil prices in the $200-$400/barrel range will be for the US economy, consider the fact that one of Osama Bin-Laden's primary goals has been to force oil prices into the $200 range.
Oil prices that far north of $100/barrel would almost certainly trigger massive, last-ditch global resource wars as the industrialized nations of the world scramble to grab what little of the black stuff is remaining. This may explain why the director of the Selective Service recently recommended the military draft be expanded to include both genders, ages 18-to-35.
...............................
As one commentator recently observed, the reason our leaders are acting like desperados is because we have a desperate situation on our hands.
If you've been wondering why the Bush administration has been spending money, cutting social programs, and starting wars like there's no tomorrow, now you have your answer: as far as they are concerned, there is no tomorrow.
What is particularly disturbing is, that from a purely Machiavellian standpoint, they are probably correct in their thinking.
