Title: Tha Dogg Pound On G-Unit? What would the FANS think?
Post by: Nima - Dubcnn.com on August 31, 2005, 12:14:44 PM
This is a poll to get feedback regarding a possible signing of Daz Dillinger & Kurupt as Tha Dogg Pound to 50 Cent's G-Unit Records.

As you know, the re-united Dogg Pound has been busy recording the follow up to their 2001-Banger "Dillinger & Young Gotti", which is set to be called "The Saga Continues". The D.P. has been buzzing on the radio with their latest song "101" aka "D.P.G.C. Music", and Daz' latest track "All I Need" aka "One Gun" has been getting very good feedback everywhere.

Express your feelings on a possible Dogg Pound on G-Unit in the poll below:

G-Unit would be a good place for them.  I think these two need some direction right now.  Like him or not, 50 Cent really helped out The Game with his album...which is a really good album.

VERY random.  He put it on the cnn too.  hmmmm he's cookin up something.  this is something that belongs in on board posted by some fanatic.  not on a highly sourceful site like dubcnn posted by none other then nima himself.

but on a two sided note, I can't see any harm done if like they said, the album is already infact finished.  and they are just label shopping for it to be pushed.  if that were the case, G unit ****RECORDS**** would be very nice for them.

I hate the idea very much, it would dissapoint me.....

although I love DPG, so it'd be a good move..... but still, I hate it, it would piss me off pretty bad

it won't happen though, no way..... Kurupt don't like 50, Daz don't like Mobb Deep and Spider Loc (nor does Bad Azz), and they were just on tour with Game, so I don't think Game would wanna be dissin them and all......

but money's a bitch, ya never know........ let's hope not though for the sake of pride fellas  :-\

If they sign it's just going to give some one fomr NY more controll over west coast rap, 1/2 dollar will be able to say he helped bring back the DP and that the only reason they sold so well (if they do) was because they were signed to Gay-Unit.

Wasn't loose change acting like he didn't even know who the fuck Daz was not to long ago, they need to go fuck with Interscope on their own, go to Interscope and get their own imprint and spend their own money on it (you know Daz has enough) and stay in controll and show that they don't need no little tenny bopper label to make it to the top.

^I agree. Even though I don't like g-unit as long as dpg have creative control I could care less about the logo. Also with 50's promotion they could do pretty well. I don't know why people would think Nima invented this for the hell of it. He HAS actually contact with dpg and everything. As long as dpg don't go screaming g-unit or dpg-unit(god I hope not) and it is strictly a label situation then I have no problem. I dont know how it is going to affect 50 and game's beef, but as long dpg stays out of it; I dont see a problem. Believe or not, but I know daz and kurupt want to make money and get their deserved spot. Also G-unit is one of the hottest labels right now like it or not.

Business wise it would be good, but it will create another division  between dem and Game...and in my opinion why not stick to One Reunion album where everybody will be happy to work with each other, Its not a Bad Idea but U can tell that its a move to get money off it , so they would bring a rushed project....I rather have a DPGC with everybody On it  than a Rushed Tha Dogg Pound Album

Are you kidding?! This would not only be HUGE for Daz and Kurupt, but HUGE for the West Coast!!!!!

I say go for it!!! I'd LOVE to see this happen; anybody who disagrees doesn't want the west to be back on top IMO. Like J said, creative control, get their cash, and make good songs (when haven't they?) It's a no brain-er. Plus it'll be fun to see Jome's reaction.

I'd rather have any rapper drop off the face of the earth and never drop another song again, then sign with g unit.  If jayo signs with g unit I will have officially lost 100% faith in rap and never listen to another new album except for detox.  daz and kurupt are already washed up and both have sold out already so I don't care much about them.  If they did sign with g unit tho, I would lose all my respect for them and definately could never support them again.

Ya'll some dramatic motha fucka's...saying you'll quit listening to rap if they sign to g-unit...
acten like a bunch of drama queens

signing to g-unit is their best opportunity to get on the radio....and if ya'll were some real fans of dpg, ya'll would want them to get their shine on and not worry about what label it's comin from instead of bitchen about how the record's gonna suck when it's not even recorded yet.

so I say DPG sign to g-unit, get exposure for westcoast since no one else is...and fuck tha fans that aren't gonna stay loyal because their crying about what label the record's coming from.

Kurupt & Daz if u are Watching...Why Not having a DPGC album On Def Jam Or SoSO Def?

1.why a DPGC album instead of DPG? well Snoop & Nate Would be on it wich would give it a commercial appeal and it would bring Lady of Rage , Soopafly & Warren G in the Spotlight
2.why On Def Jam? well Jay Z would let the in-house producers do them thang and give good promotion
3.why On SoSo Def? Jermaine Dupri Knows how to make good records so im sure he would be blessed to work on this project wich could do way better than a Daz Solo

I'm all for it man. This would garner some much needed exposure for Daz and Kurupt. it'd gain them a younger generation of fans and increase sales undoubtedly. The opinions of some of the people on here don't neccessarily reflect those of the mainstream. and we all know the mainstream are bandwagoners. Though, i don't think there's anything wrong this time, with people becoming fans or looking into DPG because of their g-unit affiliation. Success-wise, i think this would be a positive move for tha dogg pound in the near future and the long run. If they drop on G-unit, they're bound to get decent sales, and this success would encourage these 2 to do more music. Also the perks of higher production values, music videos with actual play, and basically having that g-unit machine behind them. I don't Daz and Kurupt, ever got an interview on 106 and park. If they got with g-unit, that kinda of exposure would be for sure. if you ignore the possible beefs, ignore your dislike of 50 cent and company, and look at the potential for good music and the future of daz and kurupt's career, g-unit is the place to be. I like Kurupt going to G-unit for money better than him joining up with Death Row for money and creating tension with his entire dpg family. Honestly, I think Daz and Kurupt should consider themselves lucky for an oppourtuniy to work with G-unit. Cause I had a hard time thinking anyone would want them, but having a successful label willing to bring them on? I wouldn't pass on that. Would you?

I had to sign up for these forums specifically for this thread right here... absolutely not!

I think that would make me lose total respect for the Dogg Pound completely. They DO NOT need G-Unit, they are at the point in their careers where they are legends and need to be making music for themselves and their die hard fans... NOT these little groupie MTV children. It would be largely hipocritical on their part too... Hearing Kurupt yell "G Unit" marks the death of the originals.

Yea, that was back when Kurupt was still kickin' it wit Tha Row. Around the same time that P.I.M.P (remix) came out. Snoop and Daz was talkin' bout doin' a album wit 50, Buck and Banks. A DPG-Unit release.

The way I feel about it is it would be hypocritical especially for Daz cause he always talks bout how he dont need a big label to sell his records. He can do his shit independent, make his paper and stay real to his fans.

I also feel that if the album was dropped on G-Unit there would be no way that 50 would not let it known that it was a G-Unit album. That shit would have them screamin' G-Unit all over it. Cause why would u even sign to G-Unit if u didnt want the "G-Unit groupies" to know that u down wit G-Unit so they would buy ur album. If it was a G-Unit records album then it also would not be str8 westcoast. 50 would make it a west/east coast album, which is not what DPG needs.

I wouldnt hate on a DPG album released on G-Unit tho, there were still be some hot tracks but I would rather see a str8 DPG album keepin' it (Dogg Pound) gangsta.

Why would it be fun to see Jome's reaction ???

I'd like to see Kurupt release some dope shit again, but I kinda gave up on Daz, and if they signed to G-G-G, they couldn't release a new album before Mobb Deep, Buck, Banks, and probably a new G-Unit album, so you don't need to get that excited yet, if it happens, they ain't gonna release a album this year, and probably not in 2006.

Yea, but didnt some1 say that the album is complete or almost complete. So if it is complete couldnt they just put a release date for a G-Unit records album!?  If that was the case then maybe it wouldnt a bad decision after all. It would be a full westcoast album with Daz and Kurupt's full input instead of just what 50 wanted to hear from them on an album.

Indeed I signed up as well for this thread alone. Some of you catz are taking this thread too deep but I will input my cents on this by being a DPG fan.

I say making SOME money with COMPLETE control is > then signing to major without it AND running the risk of not selling (which shouldnt be the case) unless alot more people feel like the majority of you guys on this thread. Its safe to say the majority wouldnt like it. So whats worse DPG making their own shit with complete control, or signing to G-unit disappointing their fans and wasting not only their time and money but G-Units as well. That would only make them look worse on a broader scale.

Fact is I just want the DPGC back to making these bangers, i wouldnt like to see them sign but like another fella posted before me, i'll buy it anyway and give it a chance. They g

agree with Jome, now there are enough artists on this label, DPG wouldn't drop an album before a long time. Everybody is rumored to be sign on G Unit, I have a feeling it's gonna be an Aftermath type label, lots of artists won't released an album. Plus Interscope allows 50 to release records coz every album out sold good. With 2 flops coming , it won't be the same . Don't forget Shady/Aftermath .

acten like a bunch of drama queens

signing to g-unit is their best opportunity to get on the radio....and if ya'll were some real fans of dpg, ya'll would want them to get their shine on and not worry about what label it's comin from instead of bitchen about how the record's gonna suck when it's not even recorded yet.

so I say DPG sign to g-unit, get exposure for westcoast since no one else is...and fuck tha fans that aren't gonna stay loyal because their crying about what label the record's coming from.
look whos crying....cause wont nobody agree with that bullshit move your talking about......NEGRO PLEASE. 8)

If G-Unit had nothing to do with the music, it's ok with me. As long as they keep the album strictly westcoast, G-Unit is a good place to get mainstream exposure.

If the music's gonna be G-Unit influenced, fuck that, go independent. Daz is making lotsa money that way and that would give the fans what they (we) want.

To me that sounds like an offer is on the table to the dogg pound.

Well i'm gonna put it like this.  FUCK NO THEY SHOULDN'T SIGN WITH G-UNIT.  The fans that they gain if they do this are nothin but bubble gum bullshit teenie boppers.  G-Unit is flavor of the month type shit.  They might be hot now, but that shit is a gimmick and it ain't gonna last.  I look at it as G-Unit = Murder Inc.  Murder Inc absolutely ran shit for 2-3 years and then fell harder than a motherfucker.  I guarantee you 50 is gonna do the same thing.  He's nowhere near the person he was when he first broke, and no heads like his shit anymore.  His time is coming.

How many times platinum did dogg food go?? 4x...5x, shit maybe more.  They need to quit fuckin around, get there mind right, get focused.  Daz needs to really drop some ill shit - he could drop the dopest shit at the drop of a hat.  Today his shit is hit or miss.  Kurupt also has his shining moments, but is only a shadow of his former self.  They both need to put 110% into a DPG album.  DAZ SWALLOW YOUR PRIDE, HOLLER AT DRE!!! Tell him you fucked up, you need him to oversee some of your shit.  And that ain't shittin on Daz at all!.  Dre is the best to ever do it, bar none.  Why would you not want this man breakin down your music with you?  He made a fuckin white rapper go fucking diamond! Do you have any idea how dope Daz and Kurupt would come of if Dre was coachin?? I truly believe they have more more talent between them than all of G-UNIT combined.

So no, they should absolutely not sign to G-Unit.  Do it yourselves.  Make an album that you would be proud of.  If you make an album true to yourself, and put everything you have into it, it can be successful.  PEACE

Thats what I was thinkin'. This sounds like 50 put the offer on the table and Daz and Kurupt is considerin' it but they wantin' to know what their true westcoast fans would think of this move. If thats the case then no. Dont sign with G-Unit. Like Jrome said a couple posts b4 me, Daz needs to go to Dre and tuck his tail and tell him he fuck'd up and would like him  to at least have some input on their album. Maybe even give em a beat or two. If that went down then Daz and Kurupt would drop a hella dope ass record.

So is this just a distribution deal or are we talking actually signing a recording contract? If it's just a distribution deal, all the G-Unit name gives you is a place in every store nationwide. They'd probably do a deal just like the bay artists and Jive. The company just puts the record out there and Kurupt & Daz go out and promote the shit out of it. That's not a bad deal.

Now if it's a recording contract, I say fuck that. Might as well sign another contract with Suge instead.
