-
Battlecat!!!!!!!
-
Battlecat!!!!!!!
Second that. I'm also a big fan of Big Hutch (Above The Law).
-
MADLIB!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, Most Under Rated Producer EVER!!!!
And Coming In 2nd, DJ Khalil
-
I like Big Hutch more than Dre.
-
Dj Pooh
Act of fool=1 of Top 5 westcoast beats
-
From like 97-02, I'd say Battlecat. From 02 to now, I'd say Rick Rock. Fred Wreck had it around 2001.
-
Michaelangelo is good too but thats probably because he was working with Battlecat
-
battlecat is better than dr dre.
dj pooh...
i still check for rhythm d's work.
blaqthoven...i can't wait for this bad azz album produced by blaqthoven.
everyone else is still solidifying their name or making a name for themself imho. dr dre has fallen off, i don't even check for his work anymore.
-
battlecat, fred wreck, j wells
-
Daz Battlecat or Freddy
-
DJ Battlecat, Fredwreck
-
i still check for rhythm d's work.
To this day, I still don't know why people like him - "Real Muthaphuckin Gs" was a pretty badly produced track, and he also produced the worst beat on Bone Thugs' "Creepin On A Come Up", IMO - "Down Foe My Thang". His stuff is just too generic - no real bounce in the vibe, some of the screehiest synthesizers I've ever heard, and he mixes everything poorly. Why Eazy put him on is beyond me.
-
this is a tough question there's alot of good ones out there like
Daz Dillinger
J. Wells
Battlecat
Fredwreck
i'm gonna come back witt my answer later.
:)
-
shock G (dude has produced some amazing stuff)
-
i still check for rhythm d's work.
"Real Muthaphuckin Gs" was a pretty badly produced track
:eh: :grumpy: :stupid:
-
As of today, in no order:
Fredwreck
Battlecat
Alchemist (Even though he's producing almost only for Eastcoast acts)
Evidence
Jonathan "J.R." Rothem
Mike Elizondo
Khalil
Warren G
Focus
J Classic
Da Riffs
Damizza
Muggs
E Swift
Meech Wells, where did this fella go ?
Dunno if they're all Westcoast born & raised, but I associate them all with Westcoast production..
All tight producers imo, some of them on the come-up, others on their way out the door..
-
Meech Wells, where did this fella go ?
yeah where did he go?
I don't think I've ever heard a Meech beat I didn't like 8)
-
Battlecat!!!!!!!
-

Oops, Forgot the rule...
uuhhh... Fredwick and Battlecat
-
battlecat
-

i like that grimier funk sound, just as much as i like that pristine warmer sound that a quik and cat do. funny you mention it, "down foe my thang" is my favorite track off the "creepin' on a come up" ep by far. i love that song and i still bump it regularly. and that was a great ep, no surrender, "foe the love of money, thuggish ruggish bone...all bangers
i think you should take a listen to me & my cousin's "international" album, that was probably rhythm d's best work.
i also like "it's on" better than "real muthaphukkin' g'z" for the record, but both are great songs.

E-A-Ski & CMT.

-
id have to go for
fredwreck
e-a-ski and cmt
j wells
warren g
slick dogg
-
Really like Xl middleton
-
DAZ.
-
i'm probably in the minority but although he's undoubtedly nice, i just can't put daz in the same class as some of those other producers. i expect a producer to get much better over time and to me dogg food is the best stuff daz ever had a production credit for, maybe a few 2pac tracks and some of his solo stuff as well. his very latest stuff is nothing specia imo
-
BattleCat and DJ Pooh
-
Right now I'd say Rick Rock
Daz, Warren G, Battlecat, Fred Wreck, Meech ect all have dope beats (classic in some cases), but they havent dropped anything hot in a while. Rick Rock is still on his way up.
-

dj khalil
rick rock
j wells
-
Fredwreck, then Battlecat. I guess I haven't heard the best of battle, cause I've never once been blown away by one of his beats. I would say J-Steez, but until I hear more of his stuff, wreck is the most consistant, and always keeps it with the west. He's done alot for DPG.
-
BIGSTUFF
C-Infamous
VANCOUVER producers!
www.vicvodka.com (http://www.vicvodka.com)
-
Battlecat....He's better beatmaker then dre but dre is the better producer...and DJ Quik, well knowone is really on his level in hip-hop ;)
-
I guess I haven't heard the best of battle, cause I've never once been blown away by one of his beats.
are you saying you've never been blown away by a battlecat track?
"we can freak it"
"dollaz, drank & dank"
"g'd up"
"keep it gangsta"
"how we get down"
"stacey adams"
"knee deep"
"unda da table"
"unda da table remix"
"smooth [penn state remix]"
"trust nobody"
"take yo fade"
cat is atleast even with quik. and ahead of dr dre
-
Battlecat!!!!!!!
Second that. I'm also a big fan of Big Hutch (Above The Law).
i love Big Hutch aka Cold 187um aswell
i think hes one of the more underrated producers on the west
-
......................and DJ Slip!
-
my favorite battlecat beat has gotta be g'd up. man that shit is perfect.
-
guys like cold 187um and qd iii...etc haven't been putting out enough heat as of late. if this were 95 or 96, i think you'd have to include them in the list of great producers, but as of now they just aren't putting in enough work imho.
i also don't see why people think daz is so great. daz is 50/50 with the beats. daz has tons of heat but tons of garbage out as well. and 90% of his best work is over 5 years old. i just can't say that daz is getting it done at an elite level as of right now.
-
my favorite battlecat beat has gotta be g'd up. man that shit is perfect.

2) Battlecat (really good but not as consistent as Quik)
3) Warren G
4) Dre
5) Fred Wreck
-
battlecat is better than dr dre.
LOL
if i add up the songs, cat has more great songs and more great tracks than dre. cat is also much better at r&b than dre. i don't even think it's close at this point. since '96 cat has been steadily pulling away. the overwhelming majority of dre's best work is pre '96. cat owns '96 and beyond.

yeah basically
-
As of today, in no order:
Warren G
Daz
Meech Wells
In that order for me... Meech Wells was really cool I dont know where he ever went. Maybe everything he did was samples or something, I dunno but he had a squeaky sound to his beats that I really liked a lot.
-
Ant Banks
Rhythm D
Tone Capone
Mike Mosley
DJ Pooh
E-A-Ski
Big Hutch

Lmao hell no.All his beats sound the same, have the same clap beat.He drops a really dope one from time to time but usually its the sound is almost identical.
-
omg why did this guy give me hate
-
GOD DAMMIT MAN! Shame on anybody who didnt say Ant Banks or Raphael Saadiq. And let me be the first to add Bosko to the list.
-
Oh yeah, and cant forget about Funk Daddy or Mike Mosely & Sam Bostic either.
-

ok..........tell me 1 garbage daz production cause if u think bout it there is none, there are def sum average 1s but theres much more quality. and theres hardly any1 given daz the name of great. people say hes fallen off cause thats impossible. or hes not wot he used to be.....obviously cause he changes his style over time to adjust to the hip hop game today and the way he wants his music to be. his production on the new dpg album are amazin imo.
some other quality producers not mentioned.....dj slip, dj muggs(cypress hill producer)
is the bone thugs producer dj u neek from the west cause hes 1 of the best producers in hip hop history imo
-
yeah DJ-U-neek is good too he from the westcoast....Hes best when hes with Tony-C tho
