If money were not an object, would you drive an SUV?  My boys and I discussed this over break - interesting to see where people came down on the debate.  I think that SUVs are legit, especially with all the new developments in hybrid models (GM is rolling out a ton in 2007), more fuel efficient engines (Commander's 330hp engine gets as good mileage as the Explorer's 292hp), etc.

I would defiintely push one if I could - you?

thats the thing lol.  i dont konw what kind i want.  i might just want an explorer or an expedition, but i also want an escalade or navigator, but i dunno if they are in my price range.  lol and when i said soon i actually meant hopefully next year this time.  but i dunno what i want i like so many different kinds.  id rock a pathfinder yukon denali.  its a hard topic

lol, I totally hear you.  I want a car in the "immediate future" which is even less clear.  Those are all sweet cars. You should check out the Jeep, I see em all over the place and that shite is tight.  Same idea as the others but better price I think, I'd love to snag one.  I'm so into SUVs these days, they just keep making them cooler.

I bought an 05 4Runner this summer - dropped 30 G's (college does pay off).  I honestly love it more everyday.

why not?  i roll a chevy avalanche (2002, before the escalade xlt's came out).   shit's cool.  i don't really like cars and that low perspective.  during the hurricane katrina shia and that gas price spike i was paying ~$90 a tank, other than that i don't even see what the issue is.  roll whatever you feel comfortable in.  i'm not on some speed racer shia on the highways, i like to chill.  the suv's are a little more comfortable for me.

Ive always liked range rovers so yeah I guess, but probably jsut a smaller suv. GMC Jimmy for example, I love those, or chevy blazer

i bought a 99 mercury mountaineer...its dope...gas isn't as bad as everyone thinks...its soooo comfortable...all leather inside and shit...its a pimp ride

I don't know shit about cars, but they SUV's are unsafe cars. More kids die in accidents with SUV's than in accidents with any other type of car.

I dunno man, I just read an article on this - it says that SUVS are not actually "safer" than small cars b/c of the risk of rollovers, but that they are safer in head on collisions (size, etc.).  I think SUV drivers get too cocky and can sometimes drive recklessly/not wear seatbelts as a result - just shows you gotta be smart in all rides.  There's also a lot of new stabilization technology coming out.  Found this on some of the new safety measures in Jeeps:
