No Doubt & Dr. Dre!?!?!?!?!?!?
« on: January 06, 2002, 10:27:02 AM »
I remember Dre was doing a song for their new album, but then I heard it got pulled.  But i just saw a commercial for their new album and it said it featured Dr. Dre.  What the Fuck?  Can anyone explain this?  The only song that sounds like Dre could have done is "In my Head"

So as I was tryin to make some sense of this I went over to No Doubt's official page.  They have a list of all their albums and the writers for the songs.  Then I stumbled upon these:

BEACON STREET COLLECTION (March 1995)
(Beacon Street Records © 1995)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.  Open The Gate (E. Stefani,G. Stefani, T. Dumont, T. Kanal, A. Young) 3:40

AND

NO DOUBT (March 17, 1992)
(Interscope/Atlantic Records © 1992)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5.  Move On (E. Stefani, T. Kanal, T. Dumont, G. Stefani, A. Young) 3:55

Now this could mean 1 of 3 things:
1.  Dre, Co-Wrote the songs (HIGHLY unlikely)
2.  He Co-Produced the songs (Most Possible)
3.  They sampled some of Dre's older work (i downloaded both tracks and I can't hear anything they would have sampled)

Yo this shit is hella interseting, you guys gotta help me get to the bottom of this.  This is something every diehard dre fan would want to know (me).   Can anyone shine some light on this?

Are those liner notes from thier latest album?

The only way to find out is to A. Buy the album or B.  Ask a No Doubt groupie about it.

No, the first song, "Open the gate" is from :
BEACON STREET COLLECTION (March 1995)
(Beacon Street Records © 1995)

The second one, "Move On" is from :
NO DOUBT (March 17, 1992)
(Interscope/Atlantic Records © 1992)

This means Dre was workin with No Doubt way back in the days of the Chronic.

Check for yourself:    http://www.nodoubt.com/Music/

I highly doubt this is a typo.  They wouldn't acciedently put his name in the credits.

It says their first album was released March 17, 1992.  I believe the Chronic wasn't released until Nov/Dec of that year.  So this means he worked with them even before the Chronic.

Wait, I just figured it out...LoL.

A. Young is Adrian Young...the drummer of the band.  I know his name is Adrian for sure, that's who it's gotta be.

Yah-its definitely Adrian Young.  My ex was obsessed with them.  Also-Timbaland was producing a song for their album but it got dropped at the last second as well.
