The Timberwolves headed in the same direction as the Sixers?

Looks like they might be ready to destroy and rebuild their franchise aswell. Someone get Kupchak on the phone with KG!

Minnesota Star Tribune
Changes for Wolves?

The fact that the Timberwolves blew a 12-point lead going into the fourth quarter against the Lakers on Wednesday night and were outscored 34-7 will mean some changes in the near future.

It might be the end of coach Dwane Casey, who has had little to do with putting together the personnel on this club, or it might be a big trade -- even one involving Kevin Garnett, for whom the Chicago Bulls are willing to give up some valuable players.

I've never seen Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor more upset about a loss. He spent a long time visiting with everybody in power in the locker rooms after that loss, and it's apparent that the Timberwolves are not going to draw any fans unless some moves are made.

Even some of the T-Wolve's big corporate sponsors have had it. One company official, who asked not to be named, told me that a lot of promises had been made about putting a winning team on the floor this year -- and that isn't going to happen.

Taylor normally answers questions from the media, but on Wednesday night he was in no mood to talk.

They didn't miss their shot to get AI cause they never had one. Because of the contract violation when they signed Joe Smith, they pretty much lost their first round draft picks for almost a decade. They had absolutely nothing to bargain with besides Foye. The Sixers weren't about to take a bunch of scrub players.

Personally, I want Garnett to stay here because he is the only reason people buy tickets to see that god awful team, but he is too good and deserves better. With Garnett gone, they can focus more on developing Foye and open up A LOT of salary cap room. Whatever happens, I don't see the Wolves doing anything of importance over the next couple of years. They should have won it a couple years ago when they had Sczerbiak, Spreewell and Cassell along side Garnett, but they blew it and now they are in the toilet.

I wonder what teams would give up for Garnett.

Well the Sixers did take Andre Miller and oddly enough...Joe Smith himself. The T-Wolves just weren't willing to give up Foye. I think if they would've given up Foye, Mike James, and Mark Blount they could've got A.I.

Not getting Iverson for K.G. pretty much fucked up their chances of Garnett staying. I gurantee he demands a trade soon...

The Wolves had to offer up players that would match AI's salary, and Foye, James, and Blount together are about $5 mill shy. That means they would also have to trade a first round draft pick, which Minnesota does not have, or they would have to throw Ricky Davis into the mix as well because no one else on the Wolves are really doing anything. Then what really do the Wolves have?

They have a two superstars who have to pretty much score every basket themselves, and that just wouldn't happen. PLUS they would have traded their only two shooting guards who are ready to play in the league. Hudson has been weak with less than 6 ppg, shooting only 39% FGs, and he's only played 5 minutes in the last 4 games. Trenton Hassell might as well be a store front mannequin with 3 rebounds per game with his highest shot count at 8 this year. And Mark Madsen isn't even averaging 1 ppg.

It would be the same as when they had Maurbury to compliment KG. They both did great, but the rest of the team sucked.
