Raphael Saadiq = Genius
« on: October 08, 2001, 07:28:31 AM »
This guy is incredible, he's one of my favorite producers out now.  He's an innovative singer & producer who started out with the r&b group, Tony, Toni, Tone.  I've never paid attention to him back then, but once he established Lucy Pearl with Dawn Robinson & Ali Shaheed I started noticing.  This guy can sing too, I'm lovin his style.  All of these songs I find great...

"Dance Tonight" - Lucy Pearl
"Don't Mess With My Man" - Lucy Pearl
"You" - Lucy Pearl

"Well" - DJ Quik feat. Raphael Saadiq
"Just A Man" - Raphael Saadiq feat. Devin

"Soul Sista" - Bilal; Produced by Raphael Saadiq

I like his style meshing together hip-hop, r&b & funk.  The "Lucy Pearl" album is a great example of that.
Right now, the group was replaced Dawn Robinson after she had left with some other female singer.  Ali left too.  Does anyone know if Raphael Saadiq has a solo album in works?

How y'all feel bout him?

He's tight, I never really took much notice of him while he was apart of Tony, Toni, Tone either. But since he broke out he's been pulling some tight shit, "You" has gotta b his best effort so far, the beat is mad tight, hook'd up wit Battlecat - unfadable.

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.

Yep, is "Midnight Love" with Tony, Toni, Tone?  Or just him?

Does this fool have an album droppin soon?  Lucy Pearl is stuck between a rock and a hard place right now with just two members.  I'd love to see Saadiq produce his own album by himself.

Yeah, Raphael Saadiq is a great musician who deserves more credit than he gets. Tony Toni Tone and Lucy Pearl are two great groups.

Every track Raphael produces is heat or at least what I have hear so far.

Y'all should check another Tony Toni Tone member, Dwayne Wiggins. He has some tight shit on his solo as well.

Anyone know how old Saadiq is?  Today in school I found out his solo lp will drop this fall.  That news was kinda old from a few months back.
