the first single was to create a Buzz to shop the album to major labels.. thats what "can u werk wit dat" was for.. as for the 2nd single they dropped it in order to keep it buzzin.. and when the album drop's.. a few weeks later or so.. u drop the 3rd.. and so on..
had they already been on a major label.. they would have just talked about the album droppin soon.. and than dropped the single.. and than release the album.. but that wasnt the case hear..
u gotta see the process on this album was crazy it went from being a P Funky album WestCoast shit!!!.. which was gonna have Playa hamm, 2nd II None , rob bacon , will hudspeth , domino.. and the album was originaly called "The Usual Suspects" but than things changed.. and went from that to Quik wanting to make it sound more like a wescoast/Eastcoast type thing.. than well Quik gets locked up.. than.. gets out.. and well thought.. about what he has to do to stay succesful in this buis.. and well they tweaked theyre sound to a sound that appeals to most people now a day's.. some party type club shit.. and thats how "The midnite Life" came about

Curiosity.........how did get all this background information?

interesting..that wouldve been dope if the original concept stayed..thats what i wanna see a quik album full of 220, playa hamm, amg , hi-c, rob bacon etc...  although ill take a quik and amg collabo too...  but wouldve loved a whole 304 posse type album

The reason why I know all this is cause I remember durring the time when quik was gonna drop that "live at the house of blues DVD" whitch never came out.. But durring that time quik had something on his myspace.. That said.. Look out for the secret surprise... and than after that like a week or so.. He left a post.. That said somethin like " I'm connecting my mpc .. Fonky beats going at the speed of light.. And in the end he said muical einstein.. Or some thin like that.. And he said going back to the p funk.. So I got a lil info on it by askin amg.. And yeah he told me.. And than from there.. We were at a quik concert amg was there aswell and they were rockin the place and all as usual.. And than.. I remember tellin my homeboy.. "Yo dude I have a feelin thyre gonna play some new shit.. And well yeah.. That night.. U hear slink capone.. Say.. Yo check this out..  "New DJ Quik and Amg and they started playin the song.. The track was full of bass... and the mellody kind of sounded like some indian flutes or somethin.. It was dope.. And well yeah that's basicaly how I know.. but yeah that was way before.. than they wanted that eastcoast/westcoast style.. than they moved to that club.. party starter type music.. i mean i like it..
