Mack 10 albums
« on: November 09, 2007, 03:54:27 PM »
Does anyone find that Mack 10 solo doesn't seem to be as good as on the Westside Connection albums or when he's guesting on other people's album.  I haven't heard too many of his albums, but was let down by "Bang or Ball."  I just picked up "Based on a True Story" and found that album to be unbearable...especially the first couple of tracks like Mack 10, Mack 10/Chicken Hawk II/Backyard Boogie.

Are any of his other albums worth picking up?  I see most of his albums in the bargain bin but don't know if I have faith in his solo work based on these two albums.  I'd much rather throw on a Westside Connection album.

The album definitely has some decent tracks like Only in California and The Guppies.  (I guess maybe it's Snoop and Cube on these tracks that make them more appealing to me...)  Dopeman would have been cool except that it doesn't come close to the original.  Also, Inglewood Swangin' had potential, but I think it's missing something.

Like I said above, the first couple of tracks I couldn't stand.

Based on a true story is a CLASSIC!!! His debut was nice too, but Based on a true story is Mack 10's best album. I can't understand how you find in unbareable, to me it sounds like it continues what they were doing on that "Bow Down" album!
