How Do You Get Promo's?

I know this sounds stupid but how do peeps get promos, REAL ones sent out from artists?  Like the new Eastsidaz promo...how y'all end up with that shit?  The only promo I have is bootleg, and thats of MMLP.  Do you have to work @ a record store?  Is it possible that I may get some promo's?

at least from what I know..........


I used to work for Camelot Music Store....


And Reps from all the major lables and independents would always come into the store to see where exactly there labels artist were placed on the shelf....and then they would always give the manager promos of current music or unreleased music...........

My manager had a copy of No Limit Topp Dogg before it hit the shelves and he always had copies of Arista Artist before they came out also...all promos from the Reps that came in.....and sometimes the CD wouldnt even come out.......but they still handed out promos..........

that is how i know i got some up here..when i worked at camelot...

then i should get a job at a cd store quick so i can get the bad azz, dogg pound, d-12, chico and coolwadda, Liks cd for cheaper and earlier hahaha,

i doubt that will ever happen though but i should reall get a job at a cd store or something

yeah man....after the CD came out..my manager would give out the promo to his employees....for who had the most sales....and add on sales and stuff like that....cause you cant sell promos...lol he kept the good ones....

I remember when Puff daddy came out with his last CD, he got it like 3 weeks before it came out.....we were like how in the hell did u get it........

then puff daddy came to seattle for his promotional tour........and then a limo came and picked him up...puff was in it along with black rob and shyne and they all went to the space needle....i didnt get to meet puff or any of them, but we saw black rob chillin in the limo...

i also used my 5 finger discount to get my cd's too..lol

Alright, I kinda thought so.

I have a Priority Records promo from May 2000.  It has "Just Dippin" Remix on it as well as Bad Azz's "Murderous MC's".  But thats about it for me...

If anyone has a promo(s) post and say which you have and how you got it.

You can buy them at Used CD Shops (I buy them at CD Trader)...and sellers Ebay on sell promos too...My homies uncle has the Hittman Promo with like 5 or 6 tracks..

Thats it. I already sent a application at Tower Records but they didn't need anyone I guess. I saw a "Help Wanted" sign outside of Virgin Megastore so I'mma put out a application there.

if your in the industry (work for labels, radio stations etc) its no thing to get promos.

people on the internet get them from bootleg rooms on IRC. not very glamorous

My homie gets promos from DeathRow, Priority, Get Low, and some other indy labels and all he does is just get a number to call em up, ask for someone from promotions and tell them he has a record store/streat team/or radio station and they hook him up.
