It's kind of the slow decline of most things in this country... As for ESPN...-too much about New York teams. Small markets like KC can't get no love. We've had major stories here in KC that go totally uncovered. Priest Holmes comeback to the NFL was a very inspiring story they never covered last year, for example.-Sports media is all about personal interest stories these days and less about the games themselves. It's about the steroid and spygate controversies, and theres maybe one show that actually gets into the X's and O's (like that show with Merril Hoge and Jaws Edge NFL preview show).-Steven A. Smith is just trying to entertain, he doesn't really have much knowledge of the game. For example, he thought that if you kicked a field goal on third down and missed you could try again (which is only possible with a block and recovery).-The guys that are knowledgable like Peter Gammons just talk about Red Sox and Yankees.-the 90's had greats like Kilborn and Olberman... u can't beat that.
