SF Giants

I know we got a few other fans of the team on here, what do you guys think of the team this year? I haven't been able to watch that many games because I'm down in SoCal, but I'm checking out a couple home games this weekend against Arizona and next week in L.A. There was a point when they were 4 games back, but now stand 10 back after going 1-9 in their last 10 games..They just traded away Ray Durham for prospects, and appear to be cashing it in even though the NL West is garbage. Obviously, the 3 young pitchers have been good, Zito has been alright lately and he is locked up for several years, so this could be a great rotation if Noah Lowry comes back healthy, probably not until next year. If that's the case, they need some bullpen help and a couple bats (they don't have too much power in the lineup and they are one of the worst offenses in the majors). Keichi Yabu has been horrible lately (he just got sent to the DL) but Bochy kept sticking with him, and Jose Castillo isn't very good at all, but we don't have anybody on the roster to play 3rd besides him and Aurillia. Do you guys expect them to trade any more players away, get into contention the way Colorado did last year, or join the Padres as horrible teams in a horrible division?

By the way, Colorado, even though they are getting smashed tonight, has been stronger lately and will get closer within a few weeks.

Until the last few weeks I was really happy with the progress we were making but lately we played horribly.  We are headed in the right direction, John Bowker is going to be a slugger for years to come and obviously with Lincy and Sanchez and the potential of Cain and the return of Lowry next year, our rotation has a great future.  I am not happy with Bochy though, he doesn't know how to manage a bullpen and I just dont feel he is the right manager for this team.  Yeah you are right about Yabu, he was brilliant early but lately he has been getting rocked, our bullpen needs to be addressed badly, it is a shame that Tyler Walker has a job.  I wouldn't be surprised if we make one more trade like the Durham one,  I really hope so as we need to look to the future.  We are headed in the right direction though.

Who did we get for Durham?
And yes we do have something to hang our hats on thats 4 young good starters with one of them being a top 5 pitcher in the game. Along with Zito who has his moments, thats an amazing rotation thatll just get better, but we wont get any better unless we can score some runs

Props for responding, it's good to get some more input. I agree with you about Bochy, he is a good manager, but I'm not sure about for this team. He has been sticking with Yabu in that same slot to try and get a tough out when our starters get in trouble, but he hasn't been holding it down lately. At the same time, Bochy has called for some nice hit & runs, sacrifices, and a couple double steals that were nice to see. We also don't have a great squad, our bullpen is bad, and we are short on guys to pinch-hit. We will see how the young guys respond to more playing time, I wouldn't be surprised if they deal somebody, but I'm not sure who they would. The only veterans are Vizquel, Aurillia, Molina, Rowand, & Winn, and our rotation shouldn't be messed with. Out of those guys we have, I think they are too important or not really attractive trade pieces (Aurillia & Vizquel). They still have a chance to make a run this year, and look to finally be developing players out of their system.

By the way, they got 2 prospects for Durham, one from Single-A and another from Triple-A, but I don't know who.

cant blame it on Bochy spice..Lack of Talent on offense bottom line. When we are relying on Bengie to big our Big Rbi guy, that tells the WHOLE story..
