Ras Kass - Van Goh
« on: September 23, 2008, 08:18:25 PM »
i've been bumping this steadily for a few days now.
im split on it. i may have a different version of it though i heard there was a couple different ones.

what yall think of this unreleased album?

i wouldn't say it was his strongest, it could have used a bit of a better beat selection.
but then again, a lot of albums from this time period sound kinda dated on the beat side.
lyrically he's ill as he always is. some songs are straight whack though.

It's okay....not his strongest tho....not even close.....SOul On ICe was his classic debut, Rassassination was his second best effort ever and Van Gogh is most likely his 3rd or 4th best record.....it not being released and losing the "we Gon Make It" beat really hurt it....the Premo track is nuts though....

I had a different one with "Heard It All Before", which is probably one of Ras' best tracks.

As far as different versions go, Van Gogh was scrapped, but they took the best tracks and tried to release Goldyn Chyld, but that was scrapped as well..

You can buy a mastered copy (of Van Gogh) over at raskass-central.com - it might be on Mirc by now.

It's the best quality version i've heard so far.

I don't think Ras took the best tracks from Van Gogh to make Goldyn Chyld, but that's just my ear, not his.
Charlie, lost his life right in front of the party...

I actually thought Van Gogh was better than Rassassination, but your right about Soul On Ice is definitely a classic

sad how bad his mixtapes suck

Interesting, will have to check that out.

I should have put quotation marks around "best", -->> more marketable..  ;D
