Kobe being compared to Jordan is because they both play the 2, and their STYLE of play is similar at times. Not necessarily because their quality of play is the same.  Its not because there is a debate out there about whether Kobe might really be the best player ever lol.  You cant compare a current (or past) center to Jordan for example. So yes, amongst perimeter players....Kobe has been the closest thing to Jordan over the last decade. Will he surpass Jordan? highly unlikely.  Is Lebron, right now, close to surpassing Kobe as the best perimeter player in the game? Yes.  It doesnt have to mean that Kobe in his prime is worse then Lebron in his. We havent even seen Lebrons prime yet, and he is already considered one of the best players in the league. Lebron might have a lot to prove, he IS still young. But he has already taken his team to the finals....although they got killed. But without Shaq, Kobe has done the exact same thing.
