To me it also has to do with overall talent.

I don't know the first thing about American Football or Baseball. I don't know those players you listed.

But let's assume Brodo and Ramy ( ) are mad talented, but still fuck up sometimes are, albeit being equally talented, not nearly as good as Peyton, even though some dicksuckers claim they are. Of course there's conflict.

When with Collins, even his own mother knows he's not as good as Peyton, and it's also common sense that he's not as talented or gifted as the real elite players. But he's a class act and gives his all, a team player and hustler who does the best with what was given to him at birth. Less conflict, and more love because he's maximizing his potential instead of  being a cocky prick who fucks up all the time due to lack of effort, focus and discipline while still thinking that he's the shit.
