Raptalk.Net: We’re right here with the Horseshoe G.A.N.G, Crooked I’s lyrical partners in rhyme. There “Gangsta MC” album is available as of right now on ITunes and other major digital retailers, so y’all better be sure to pick that up if you haven’t.  How are you guys doing right now?

Horseshoe Gang: We’re doing super, we’re good. The album is available now as you said. We’re ready to push for this project.

Raptalk.Net: You heard the man! “Gangsta MC” is available now! Why did you guys decide to title it “Gangsta MC?” In my opinion, that’s an interesting title.

Horseshoe Gang: We decided to name it that because there are too many rappers out there saying “I’m just a gangsta, I’m not a rapper.” People talk as if they rap for a hobby but are really a gangsta. And then you have other rappers who say “I’m real hip-hop, I’m not into that gangster rap – I’m just hip-hop.” Our title is combining the two together. We’re exposing that there is another lane that you could have, and its gangster MC. You could be a gangster and have lyrical skills too. That’s why we named the album that.

Raptalk.Net: Is that you guys trying to bridge the gap and say you can be a gangster, you can be lyrical and do gangsta rap? All at the same time, remain real hip-hop.

Horseshoe Gang: Absolutely. This is real hip-hop but at the same time, we’re real gangsters too. We are bridging the gap and at the same time, we want people to understand that gangsta MC’s have been existing the whole time because Jay-Z is a gangsta MC, Ice Cube is a gangsta MC, OutKast are gangsta MC’s. We want everybody to know what we’re doing. That’s why we named the album “Gangsta MC.”

Raptalk.Net: Is it also living proof through the title and musical content on there, that on the west coast, there is such thing as a lyrical gangsta MC?

Horseshoe Gang: Absolutely there is a such thing as a gangsta MC. We’re gangsta MC’s. If you listen to cats like Mykestro and Dynamic Certified from Long Beach, we’re all gangsta MC’s; everybody apart of the new west over here, its gangsta MC’s and we’re leading the pack.

Raptalk.Net: And these are all guys that appear on the album.

Horseshoe Gang: Oh yeah. These dudes appear on the album. We have Coniyac, a female artist that is going hard over here. We have Mykestro. We have Royce Da 5’9 little brother Kid Vishis, he blessed us with one. Royce Da 5’9 himself is on the album. We have Crooked I on there of course. We have a lot of people who we would consider gangsta MC’s to push this brand with us.

Raptalk.Net: And isn’t Coniyac the wife of Tray Deee?

Horseshoe Gang: Oh yeah. Coniyac is a former Doggy’s Angel member. She’s on there and she goes real hard.

Raptalk.Net: We have the females representing on there. Talk about releasing the album digitally.

Horseshoe Gang: That’s where the industry is heading. It’s the digital era and we’re trying to stay with the times. We have Amazon, ITunes, and many other places; you can get it at any of those. We’re just trying to stay with the times. The digital era is in the house. We’re gonna’ go digital too.

Raptalk.Net: That’s where the game is right now. We’re definitely in the digital age. Where do you think its going?

Horseshoe Gang: It’s definitely going there. The rap industry just like any other industry is always about change. We definitely want to change with it. I don’t think the hard copy era is completely dead. We might even have a couple of hard copies out for the fans and that kind of stuff. The game is definitely moving in that direction so we thought we’d give it a try.

Raptalk.Net: Are you guys planning on shooting any street music videos? I know you already have some viral videos out for some of those freestyles in the series.

Horseshoe Gang:  Oh yeah, absolutely. We have a couple of those in the works right now. We’re trying to do a couple of those for some of the songs on the album. I know a lot of people saw the ones from our weekly series; we did “Run This Town” and we’re trying to more of those ones. Look out for that.

Raptalk.Net: But this time it’ll be tracks off the album?

Horseshoe Gang: Yes sir! We’re shooting street videos off our “Gangsta MC” album too.

Raptalk.Net: As a group, are you guys signed to Treacherous Records? Let them know what the deal is like.

Horseshoe Gang: No. we’re signed to COB Records. Shouts out to Treacherous Records by the way. We are affiliated with them but we are not signed to Treacherous. We’re COB.

Raptalk.Net: Although you were a group prior to this, did seeing what crooked I did with Slaughterhouse inspire the move forward?

Horseshoe Gang: That absolutely helped and paved the way. They’re a four-headed monster and we’re a four-headed monster. As you said, we were a group before Slaughterhouse got together but they did help pave the way. We are with the Slaughterhouse movement too; we’re down with that. We’re all brothers. We’ve all been rapping since we were little kids. They did inspire what we’re doing. We’ve been on the grind our whole lives though.

Raptalk.Net: The four of you have been rapping since little kids and have clearly known each other for a long time. When was it when you met Crooked I and he came into the picture?

Horseshoe Gang: Crooked I is our brother, you know what I’m saying? (Laughs). Of course he inspired us to rap because he is such a dope rapper. He and our older brother actually taught us how to rap; I’m talking about rapping in front of a little tape recorder and pressing pause; one bar, two bars and so on. He actually taught us how to rap and how to formulate bars. That’s how we got started.

Raptalk.Net: Did you guys ever think you’d release your debut album before a solo from Crooked came?

Horseshoe Gang: Wow. We’re all flesh and blood brothers. Whatever happens for anybody first, that’s what we’re proud of. Crooked is a legend out here on the west coast. Whether he’s put an album out or not, he still paved the way for us. We’re able to put this digital album out because of what he’s done. The fact that we’re putting out this album now, it’s thanks to him. It doesn’t matter if we put it out before him or not. He has such a large body of work.

Raptalk.Net: Ok, no doubt. We have the Horseshoe Gang on Raptalk.Net. Y’all got the official word from two of the four members’ right here. The rest was here in spirit with us, shouts out to Dice and everybody else. “Gangsta MC” is available as of right now. Everybody make sure to cop it. Do you guys have any last words before I let you go?

Horseshoe Gang: We appreciate you for looking out for us. We need all the help and support we can get it. Everybody go get “Gangsta MC” because Horseshoe Gang is raising the bar, along with the few other cats that is pushing this line with us. We’re raising the bar with real lyricism, real artistry and real MC’ing. This is all that at it’s best. Go out and support us. Support “Gangsta MC” because it’s real hip-hop. Horseshoe Gang, COB!

They aren't "gangstas". They are rappers portraying gangstas on record.
