I2G chilled with former Death Row artist SKG for a exclusive interview. We discuss her new book, The Diary of Helecia Choyce, her thoughts on the hip hop game and the roles of women in the game and much more so check it out.

Illuminati 2G is here with SKG how’s it going?

Everything is going good..Blessed and happy to be here..

Tell me a little bit about the book, The Diary of Helecia Choyce: The Hustle Within Part 1 that you released this year.

The Diary of Helecia Choyce is a book based on my life. People I’ve encountered. Life Situations I’ve been through. The Music Industry, different artist I worked with, My life growing up in Losangeles and the struggles I was able to overcome. I talk about alot of rappers in my book. Things that happened between me and them. It’s not like no scandolous tell all. It’s just some real life type stuff. I have a new volume dropping each year. Next year Volume two will drop in the fall called “The Diary of Helecia Choyce” Part #2

What has the feedback been like for the new book?

Well the feed back has been good. You know some people are mad because I put them in my book. I got into it with a few artist. One in particular from Gary, Indiana name Freddie Gibbs. He said I just put his name in my book without telling him. I didn’t say nothing bad about him even though I coulda. Then some rappers that I know who is gay was calling me asking if I put them in my book. I think they was scared I was going to expose them but I didn’t. My book is more about me and if I mentioned a person it just talks about our encounters. I’m not into exposing people, I’m just telling my story.

You have 2 new singles, Bad Bad Chiq and Throwback. Tell me a little bit about them.

Bad Chiq was a song I recorded with Lil Flip. I ended up taking him off because he was acting like he was too good to do the video.. I guess he wanted me to pay him for the video which I wasn’t doing.. So I’m on there by myself. It’s a song for the ladies regardles of your race, size even gender..lol..if you feel your a bad chiq than bang the song.. Throw back is a song I did with Tex james which he is signed to Coli park music. The song is produced by Dj Brad. The remix with Spider Loc will be on the mixtape.

Do you have a new mixtape or album in the works and if so is there any details that you can give about it?

Yea I have a mixtape with Spider Loc that will be coming out in December. It’s hosted by Dj Lazy K and we are just making moves and grateful to be doing so. Also I have a new group coming out called Da Mutantz.. Theyre single A.D.D will be hitten the streets in a couple of weeks.. We have alot of big things thats about to happen.

Is there any chances we will see any Death Row recordings released from the material you did over there?

My attorney just sent them a letter for some royalties that were owed to me as well as to get my masters. I hope they do release my music. If not it’s all good. I still have a bright future with new material so either way it’s ok.

What was it like working on the track Let Em Have It on 2pac’s Until The End Of Time album?

That was really a great experience for me… you can read about it in my book “The Diary of Helecia Choyce” available Now

What are some good stories or memories that stick out to you while being at Death Row?

you can read about it in my book “The Diary of Helecia Choyce” available Now

What are your thoughts on women’s status in the hip hop game in 2010?

I love that the doors are opening for women in the music industry again. It was closed for so long for women in Hip Hop. I feel Nicki Minaj helped re open the doors and got the Industry and the streets back checking for female rappers again. I feel it’s alot of hating between girls even for me. Alot of females on the Westcoast are haters. I had a lot hate on me for no reason and I just don’t understand why it have to be that way. It seems like females get mad when they see another female shining instead of letting that motivate them to get their shine on, they want to criticize and tear the next female down. I hope female rappers continue getting the shine that we truly deserve and it should be more about unity instead of seperation.
