Stern/Schultz (our old owner) started complaining that we needed a new arena in 2005, less than a decade after Key Arena was remodeled. Schultz got tired of trying and sold us to Bennett in October of 2006. Bennett buys the team saying all this BS about respecting Seattle's history and intending to keep them in Seattle and making a good faith effort to do so. The guy made one attempt to build an arena in the Renton S-Curves (one of the worst traffic areas in Washington) and everyone knew it was BS to begin with. His deal was worse than what Schultz wanted, and Schultz's plan didn't even go to vote, so of course his wasn't going to, he knew exactly what he was doing. Instead of fighting it out, the guy files for fucking relocation on the day of our FUCKING HOME OPENER in 2007, restricts fans and media from the players like never before, and has already torn the team down (the 07/08 team would go on to have the worst record in the franchises 41 year history). Then a bunch of emails come up between that prick and his ownership group talking about how them wanting to move the team the entire time, and oil boy McLendon even admitted it to an Oklahoma newspaper. Stern was/is friends with Bennett, and basically pushed the Sonics out the door cause he was upset with our government for not building him a new arena after the Mariners/Seahawks got there's in the 90's. The Kings have been in the dog-house arena wise about as long as Seattle has, but the NBA has worked tirelessly with them to try to figure it out in the last several years, in direct contrast to what they did with Seattle. Sac-Town also has Kevin Johnson (former NBA guy) who has gone all out to keep them there, as opposed to Mayor Nickels who actually sold the final two years of our lease to Clay Bennett, allowing them to move in 2008 and not giving us more time. The thing is, the Kings are probably moving regardless, they're not getting pushed out the door like Seattle. Chris Hansen isn't going to go into Sacremento and preach a bunch of bullshit about wanting to keep the team there, he's made his intent perfectly clear. They've had plenty of time to figure this out and haven't been able to. Does it suck? Yeah, but if a team's going to relocate they might as well come back to the 12th biggest market where a team thrived for the better part of 41 years. Sorry for the essay, but I just think it's BS that people wanna talk about it like it's the same, when it reality it couldn't be more different outside of an outdated arena.

Thats makes it a very similar situation. No the nba isnt exactly colluding with the owners but still. So, the circumstances would be different slightly. And thats not even the point. The point is, that not all Californians are Laker fans, and a lot of loyal fans would have their team taken away from them. Just like you guys did.

But, the NBA has set the precedent that any team can be moved if their demands aren't met. They've had a much more fair opportunity to figure things out than we ever did and it looks like they still aren't going to, even with the NBA's help and an incredibly supportive governor. If they can get something done great, but if the NBA is going to make them move anyways, they might as well come here. Obviously, Sac-Town has a reputation for having great fans in past years, and if expanding were an immediate option I'd prefer that. However, who knows when that'll be available, and after getting my team ripped away I just want pro-hoops back and don't really care where it comes from.

U get a team, u would love that team, fuck where it came from or what happened there. Thats the attitude i would have too.Its too bad that pro sports has become so difficult for smaller market teams.

Where I would differentiate myself is I would never be like all of these Thunder fans that say shit like "IF SEATTLE WANTED TO KEEP THE TEAM SHOULDA SUPPORTED THEM OKC IS BETTER THAN SEATTLE ANYWAYS HAHA #THUNDERUP". Can't tell you how many times I've had to read ignorant BS like that. I could never be a prick to someone like that who lost their team. The NBA is really to blame all of this for pitting fans against each other, damn shame. I'd love to have the Kings but it is a bit of a guilt trip thinking of all the good fans that are gonna be heart-broken like I was 4 years ago.
IF SACRAMENTO WANTS TO KEEP THEIR TEAM THEY SHOULD SUPPORT THEM #SONICUP
