Da Band - Too Hot For TV. 8/10

4 Emcees: Elliot Ness from Philly; Babs from Brooklyn; Chopper aka City from New Orleans; Fred aka Miami from Miami. Dylan, the reggae artist and Sara Stokes the R & B Singer. They all meshed perfectly, which suprised me. I didn't think they'd be able to make a real dope album, but they did. Ness and Babs suprised me, they ripped their verses. Dylan has potential to be something big, but he needs to be pushed in the right direction. Chopper and Fred can blow up, Chopper just needs to stray away from sounding like his fellow NO rappers. Sara will probably have a good R & B career. As a group, they have good chemistry, but I don't know if they can last together. Only time will tell.

Stand Out Tracks:

Living Legend. Dylan had a great hook on this. He could easily make it big. Babs came off. Tight beat also.

Tonight. Might be a club banger if they release it as a single.

I Like Your Style. Dylan and Babs harmonizing. Smoothed out shit. All six artists came on the track. Great chemistry.

What We Gonna Do. TRACKMASTERS!!!! Great song. Ness came off. Potential club banger.

Why. The track from The Bad Boys II Soundtrack. Shows they can really spit about something worthwhile, and not just non-sense.

Stick Up. Ness and Fred go back and forth trading bars on this jam. Pretty G'd up.

Chopped Up. Choppers solo track. Souns a lot like Lil Wayne and Turk, but it's a very dope track.

Bad Boy This, Bad Boy That. Great first single. All four Emcees ripped it, especially Freddy. Elliot Ness did his best Craig Mack impression.

Do You Know. Wyclef!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes! One of my favorite jams. All 4 of the emcees were going back and forth trading bars with each other. Showing great chemistry. Sara with a dope hook. Dylan came in and ripped it. Wyclef laced this up, he showed these kids how to make a real dope track.

They Know. Fred and Chopper doing a track together. A South track without a doubt. These two could do big things together.

Go Steady. Sara gets the last full track. Only Ness comes on and raps a few bars. Dope R & B.

There's an interlude with Farnsworth Bentley and The Madd Rapper(D.Dot). Bentley actually drops rhymes, shit was funny as hell.

Dope album, go pick it up. It's in stores today.

Yup. Since Master P is pretty quiet lately, though he's coming back, Diddy has become the best CEO in the game. He's the closest thing to Russel Simmons. TV Shows, Soundtracks, Clothing, all that. Diddy knows what to do. Think about how much money the two seasons of Making Da Band will make for Bad Boy. All that free publicity.

Hottest song I heard so far is What We Gonna Do, but I still have a few more to listen to, so that may change. I like some of the songs, some of them I don't, but not bad overall.

i agree...90% of magazine reviews are straight bullshit anyway...the only reviews worth reading are ones by people with similar tastes in music.

Pretty much. Those are the only opinions that matter. Why should I care what XXL is getting paid to say is dope? Or the Source? Etc. All that is bullshit. Even these websites. The people reviewing are no different than me or you, if they were such great writers, they'd writing in a magazine. Not some online Hip Hop Review website.

exactly...and we know that most of the time they dont even listen to the full cd before they review it...xxl reviews "The Ownerz" like 6 months before it came out when they heard 4 demo tracks from the album and they gave it a shitty rating...i rarely buy magazines anymore...their full of nothing but bullshit.
