I got MURS' "The End Of The Beginning", and actually it didn't impress me that much. "You And I" was my favourite track. He (as the whole Def Jux crew in my opinion) lacks beats. And I think 9th wouldn't solve this problem, because I didn't like 9th's productions on "The Listening". But MURS is a good lyricist, so probably I'ma check it out if I have some time ;)

If I dont go gold, then my people say I flopped
But if I go triple-platinum, I'm not Hip-Hop.

The production is amazing on this. If 9th keeps it up, by December he might be the best producer of 04.

Which one do you mean? "The Listening", "The End Of The Beginning" or "3:16"?

It's a pretty damn good album.  It's the first album I've heard from Murs and I'm impressed, however, I question how good an album he can make without the great production backing him up.

its pretty hard for anyone to make a good album w/out great production  ::)

See Ras Kass fool.

ras kass production is fine fool. you don't have to have the top of the line producers to have great production...and even if you do have the top of the line producers it doesnt mean you're going to have great production. if an album has wack beats and great lyrics...its gonna sound like shit.

The production on Soul On Ice isn't wack at all, its just pretty understated, and acts as more of a backing to his lyricism rather than being on a level par with it.

I just heard it in his brother's car, and yeah, this is sick. Personally, I am not a big fan of east coast style of production, but 9th is at the top of the game when it comes to this style. Murs has some sick lines, and on some songs you'll laugh, some songs you'll jus say "damm.....that's real"

From what I just heard, I am feelin #1, 5, 7, 9 the most, but I didn't hear it straight thru because it was on random/shuffle mode.

I finally heard it, although (as I said above) it was not that interesting for me. But it's definitely tight, one of the hightlights of 2004 so far 8)
