review of the Kurupt against the grain release party
« on: June 07, 2004, 03:46:46 PM »
this was from the death row records forum from some kid who went.. damn i wish i went.. shit woulda been pretty sick with kurupt and roscoe. :

What's Up people. I was in LA for the weekend and I went to the concert, $33 each ticket thru ticketmaster. OK, so heres what went down:

Security was mad strict, they were basically making dude's strip down to make sure they didn't have any weapons, they wouldn't even let people take digital cameras inside and you weren't allowed to take pictures inside so pics were out of the question. It was SUPPOSED to start at 10:30 but the opening act, It was 40Glocc and some other cats came on at about 11:15 and performed only about 25 minutes which made it about 11:40. There performance was decent/good. As for Kurupt he finally got there at the HOB at about 12:15 and started performing at 12:20 It was actually Roscoe that kicked off the performance, then Kurupt came in and the first thing he did was apoligize for being late, he said that his limo driver got lost. So the first song Kurupt did was "We Can Freak It" (my fav track from him). The songs he performed were "We Can Freak It", "What would U do" (without Daz verse), Who ride with us, Ain't No Fun, and some other ones. Roscoe performed "Smooth Sailin". Eastwood performed a track don't know the name though and Keita Rock performed on a track as well. Those 3 performed a diss track dissing Snoop, Daz, Soopafly. So the show finished at 1:25 and thats cause that HOB closed at 1:00 that night. Kurupt was about to perform his "Against The Grain" tracks but they didn't let him cause they were closing up and he said "They ain't letting us do no more cause they kicking us out". But Kurupt had about 50 niggas on stage, they were smoking, drinking, C-Walking, you name it, there were mad bangers though mostly on stage and a few in the crowd reppin Crips. It looked like some shit was gonna kick off but then the security closed the curtains to avoid all the drama and then people started filing out. So overall the performance was only 1 hour, but Kurupt did rip the mic, he was freakin raw as hell. I give the performance a 8/10 cause it was short, but had Kurupt shown up on time it would've been a definite 10/10 IMO.
