Smoother Scrolling with Firefox?
« on: December 26, 2005, 09:20:08 PM »
I got a new monitor, and the resolution is set to 1280 x 1024, so the websites are bigger.  When I scroll, it's a bit choppy, is there a way to fix this?

the refresh rate of ur monitor(how many times it refreshes in a second) probably about 75hz, the slower this is, it could be why it looks choppier

Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Use smooth scrolling

There's probably some extension to make it even smoother, but it's smooth enough for me.  ;D

I did that, and I got the smooth whell extention.  It's still choppy.  I noticed that if I go really fast my music will stop till it catches up.  And I just installed a DVD player and it's choppy when I go full screen so Im' thinking I might need more ram.

Sounds like some program is stealing all your RAM or CPU.
Check task manager to see if anything is clogging all the power, right-click taskbar and go to task manager -> "Processes" and check the CPU and RAM bars for high activity.

Looks pretty normal actually, but it might help to close Itunes, Ipod Service, MS Paint, MSN, Quicktime, RealTime Scheduler, InCD, Winamp, from running in the background, unless of course, you're using the programs right now.. I know Realschedule/RealPlayer, QuickTime, and Itunes can be some real resource cloggers when it's checking for updates/syncing/scanning etc. in the background.
