Hip-hop star Lil' Kim is to be released from jail three months before her sentence for perjury and conspiracy was due to end.

The rapper was sent to Philadelphia Federal Detention Centre for one year and one day last September, but will be released on Monday due to good behaviour.

Lil' Kim will be released into a 30 day period of house arrest and will also be on probation for three years.

In a statement, she said: "I am thrilled to be coming home. I thank all my fans for all their letters, as well as my family and friends for all their support throughout the past 10 months."

Her lawyer, L.Londell McMillan added: "We are pleased that Kim is coming home to start the next phase of her life. She has accepted responsibility and handled herself in an exemplary manner."

The singer was convicted on three counts of perjury and one count of conspiracy in March 2005 in relation to a trial concerning a shooting outside New York's Hot 97 radio station in 2001.
