Theres no artists at the moment bar scarface maybe who really delve into there inner struggles and put it into a verse. Everything is so happy or fake, few rappers are really showing there inner feelings, i really think the best music comes from those who are unhappy.

Hip hop used to reflect this struggle but i just dont see it now a days.

Damn, those are some great lyrics...never had really listened to the words properly on this song...

oh and GREAT song too

True..He gets real into his story-telling and goes deeper than most rappers are willing to, you can really relate to the realness of Budden's lyrics.

And this is really a great thread. I honestly can't relate to any of the shit in radio hiphop these days. Its like you got to be rich and fucking dozens of supermodels and sellin drugs on the block to relate.

I'm poor.. and I don't go to clubs, bars, or none of that. So I can't relate.

But back in the day you could vibe off the origionality and fresh perspective coming out of hiphop. It would open your mind up.

And Pac made you feel like you were celebrating his successes with him cause it was like he was down for us, same with Snoop, Cube, and other mainstream artists back in the day....

... but the rappers today you feelin like they throwin it in your face like they are your enemy.

2pac was such a poet, it gives me the chills listenin to lyrics like this, predicting his early death and what not....I think he really felt like death was the only way for him to escape all the bullshit he was goin thru.......

I'll second that KURUPTION. Tupac was the first rap artist I started listening to (I was 12 at the time) and part of the reason why I liked his style so much was because you could tell he was brutally honest in his songs.
And yes, in today's rap scene you hardly ever get to hear similar verses.

Which makes me wonder again...how would today's rap scene look like if Pac was still here? I know, it's a cliché to bring up, but seriously, if you think about it, I really wonder if all of these pop-tart rappers would've had a carreer.

Im not sure if they would be, the mainstream reflects whats popular at the time so maybe if pac was still alive and popular you would have more rappers dropping lyrics like him.

The only thing that makes me think maybe not, is due to the fact there are a lot of rappers who claim to be like pac, but they only really reflect the violence in his life.

They dont have the deep lyrics and inner turmoil.
