Nigga hold up lets close this thread once and for all !!!!!  Quik was the shit in 1991 Quik is the name =Hip Hop Classic ,  1992 he Fell off even though he managed to go gold from 1 single , the album Way 2 Fonky was his worst album to date by lots of people , and he disapeared and after he seen MC Eiht was becoming a Big Star he came with Dollaz n Sense 1994' Ghost Writer Quiks homeboy FACT.  SAFE & SOUND Is released to all the hype around the Beef it went Gold had a few bright spots on the album . His best album since his DEBUT IN 1991 "RHY-TH- IM-LISM" still get play . I Cant say they same about those others . What Happen Quiksta ? Come bacc to that Hard Shit again !!!!!!!

This topic is a pure example of dick riding. They didn't hold Quik back at all. It's hard to get a major deal, and when Quik and AMG got one, they fucked it up. Quik is a great producer. But being great doesn't mean they have to blow up. Who cares if Quik sells 2 million copies. As long as you get his album, thats all you should care about. Sales, sales, sales. Means shit.

Whens the last time a GOOD album sold a lot? 5 years ago? Those Quik beats were special, because he has special people rapping on them. Suga Free, Hi-C, old AMG, classic albums. Who wants to hear Jay-Z on a fucking Quik beat? No one.

The fact is, anyone can make a hot beat, but what makes it special is the production, the mixing, the concept. Quik is simply one of the best at all those things. Take a Quik beat, remove the lyrics... and you don't have something special. Quik and his proteges complimented each other perfectly. And if Quik was going to blow up, he would have. No one was holding him back. That is a fact.

And IMO, the fact that Suga Free is the only one releasing projects with any real attention, shows that he didn't need Quik. What's Quik done since Trauma? Whats Hi-C done? What's AMG done? Not much. It would be OK to say all those others needed Quik, but Quik needs them too. Because Quik isn't doing much of anything right now. Suga Free is the only one whos moved on to other things, and some may say "better" things.

I think with 2nd II None and AMG, its been proven that without Quik production, they really aren't all that special, however Playa Hamm, Suga Free, and Hi-C have proven that they can carry cd's without Quik beats or with only one or two Quik-produced tracks.
