lyrical G speakin on some real shit

You people talking about how a single should sound like is the reason why rap sucks nowadays. Every single is the same, produced by some Down South beatmaker and put someone like Wayne on the hook and you've got yourself a single. If Grow Up would've blown up it could've been the best thing in hip-hop in years. But now that it will most likely flop, I'm sure Jimmy will want a Candy Shop part 34 or some cheesy club joint.

I agree, something different that would blow up huge would be great but it has to warrant that type of success too. In my opinion, there is nothing about grow up which deserves to be make it a huge blockbuster hit. At the end of the day, they tryna make music that will blow up and be big and he put out a record with a nice message but the music gotta still be the standout point which in my opinion lacks in grow up. Yes alot of singles are pretty terrible right now but theres alot of shit that is out both generic and more club friendly than grow up but still alot better.

in a interview with soulassains he says the video will be comin this month and definatly hoping to release the album in november. and u guys should stick to ur soulja boy shit if u think this was shit.

heres a link for the interview
http://soulassassins.com/?p=2766

Props for this. To sum up:

- He said Lord Finesse, 9th Wonder, DJ Quik, Battlecat, Hi-Tek, Dready Beatz, Denuan Porter, Mark Batson, Focus (2 beats on the album), DJ Khalil (3 beats on the album) and Dr.Dre are on the album. His last produer venture is going to NY to work with Just Blaze and Premo.

- And he basically dissed Hot Rod lol and said Crooked I is the most underrated rapper on the West.

- They asked him about the Dre vault and said that he has an album from Bilal produced entirely by Dre, heard some Premo and Dre tracks from Oh My God and that Dre plans to release an orchestra driven instrumentals for Detox

- Oh and he's releasing a workout DVD called "Get Fit Or Die Tryin" lol

BTW Lyrical G, agree with what you said, this might not scream a big hit when you hear it but with a nice visual it could get some decent airplay and then drop an official single.

I agree.  Back in the day artists made real records and some of those records went pop or were crossovers but it wasn't like they went in with a formulaic plan to put out some bs because it would get played.  Nowadays everybody is trying to get with the "it" producer/rapper/singer and put out the same record as everybody else.

they were plannin to use it as a single?? it has no potential as anything other than an album filler

i agree 100 with you.  there's no way nobody in the club is going to get down and dance to "grow up" and request it.  the lyrics aren't even club material.  interscope won't even release an album with that kind of song.  think about it -- busta rhymes couldn't get his stuff released.

Got some spins but no video has emerged and last i heard dre had come out and said something like he wasnt happy that it leaked as it wasnt finished yet - there were elements he wasnt pleased with...

First that "Confessional" mixtape that he gave to DJ Strong and now "Grow Up"... "Grow Up" was sent directly from his people in a mass e-mail. If what you say there is true then Bishop Lamont is a big fuck up.
