after analyzing these numbers I've come to the conclusion that the best 10 year spans  (without penalizing for steroids) are:
my top 13  (the bakers dozen) of the best 10 year spans ever are:

1-Babe Ruth  (nuff said)
2-Lou Gehrig  (really was left in Babe Ruth's shadow and then Joe dimaggio's shadow his whole career...then he died from ALS...but he's a legend!)
3-Barry Bonds (was getting old and slow in the outfield but got better at the plate as he aged LOL wonder why)
4-Ty Cobb
5-Ted Williams  (highest on-base %)
6-Rogers Hornsby  (a 2nd baseman with those stats, damn...but hornsby was horrible in the field which hurts him)
7-Alex Rodriguez  (gold glove shortstop with 454 home runs and 214 stolen bases?? jesus wonder how he did this LOL)
8-Mickey Mantle (188 OPS+)
9-Willie Mays (165 OPS+)
10-Tris Speaker
11-Hank Aaron
12-Honus Wagner
13-Jimmie Foxx

ps- Albert Pujols only has 9 years in his career...my rules were you had to have a 10 year career to make this list.  Pujols is gonna be in the top somewhere for sho!

wow Lou and Ruth were sick

But Cobb wasn't too shabby himself

I'd vote Ruth
DUBCC FANTASY BASEBALL CHAMPION 2008

I may actually put Cobb ahead of Bonds because of Cobb's ability to also coach a team

ty cobb taught Harry Heilmann how to hit and Heillman soon won like 4 batting titles in the 1920's
