Raptalk.Net: You’re the only southern artist on the Rock the Bells tour. How does it feel to be the only one representing for the south?

Big Boi: It feels great because it’s power music. I don’t give a damn where we are from. As long as we get on that stage and rip it how we’ve been ripping it every night, call it what you want.

Raptalk.Net: And how has the tour been treating you so far?

Big Boi: It’s been great. Ever since the first night, it’s been getting better and better. Tonight was the best show so far because it’s been a minute since I’ve been out here in Toronto. The crowd was very receptive, singing word for word every song. They’re giving us that energy back so it was great.

Raptalk.Net: This is the first Canadian date, so how was it getting here to Toronto?

Big Boi: Well, it was kind of tricky getting in here. We have a couple of guys with us that got some things (laughs). We made it on out just in the nick of time by the grace of God.  It was good that we didn’t have to leave anyone at the border.

Raptalk.Net: Thankfully, that would be a long ride back home alone.

Big Boi: Boy, what you talking about?

Raptalk.Net: (laughs) Vibe Magazine recently set up a Dungeon Family shoot. That was really nice; I saw all of you out there. What was it like to have the whole camp out there?

Big Boi: It was a beautiful thing that came together that day. All of the guys were together from Cee-Lo to the whole Goodie Mob and the whole Organized Noize, Big Rube. It was like a Dungeon Family picnic. From there we went on back to the studio at Stankonia and had a Dungeon Family meeting – we have some Dungeon Family surprises coming.

Raptalk.Net: You promised a barrage of music in the next two years from the Dungeon Family; tell our readers about that.

Big Boi: I just finished my album. Cee-Lo just finished his album and its coming. Dre [Andre 3000] is working on his album right now. There is a new Goodie Mob album in the works as well as a new OutKast album in the works. It’s just a gang of music from an alliance of elite MC’s. We opened the doors for the dirty south and we’re still here doing it. The music is still that kind that you love. We’re just having fun.

Raptalk.Net: Super producer DJ Toomp was out at the shoot; any talks about recording some music with Toomp?

Big Boi: Oh, most definitely. DJ Toomp actually has a track on the “Sir Luscious Left Foot” album that’s crazy. I can’t tell y’all about it right off the top but I’ve wanted to work with Toomp for a while. For those who don’t know, DJ Toomp actually used to be our DJ. He used to be the OutKast DJ back in the day before Cut Master Swift came on. Toomp was our DJ for a short stint.

Raptalk.Net: So that love was already there.

Big Boi: Most definitely.

Raptalk.Net: A few weeks back, you claimed in my www.wordofsouth.com interview that you had a major announcement regarding the album coming up. Are we nearing that announcement?

Big Boi: We are very much near to it. The ink will be on paper within the next week or so. Will let y’all know what’s happening with that. It’s great for the music and know that the album is done and we’re gonna’ bust y’all in the mouth with it.

Raptalk.Net: Which type of producers do you have on there?

Big Boi: On the album of course we have the Organized Noize on there. I co-produced just about every track on the album. I’m a producer also and not a lot of people know that I and Dre [Andre 3000] are producers as well. I really concentrated on writing. I’ve been noticing that a lot of MC’s today don’t write their own raps and that’s appalling to me. No ghost writers here, everything you ever heard me say I’ve written, and everything you’ve ever heard Andre 3000 say, he has written. It’s just like that because we’re true MC’s and we take pride in rhyming. The music is what we do and what we love.

Raptalk.Net: Speaking of writing that relates to lyricism which almost feels like it’s losing its place in the hip-hop game. What do you think about that? Because you definitely pride yourself off being a lyricist.

Big Boi: I don’t think lyricism is losing itself in the game. I just think certain young cats have certain ways of expressing themselves. You can only get better with time. You hone your craft and you do it. I guess the folks at home [Atlanta] right now might be on so much vibing and feeling the music as much as it is on lyricism. You have cats like Andre 3000, Big Boi and Cee-Lo Green from the Dungeon Family that, this is what we do.

Raptalk.Net: Has the next single from the album been picked out at this time?

Big Boi: Not yet! We have 16 songs to choose from. It’s great and I’m very happy. I can’t wait to give y’all the album because I know a lot of y’all are tired of waiting. Be patient, good things come to those who wait. It doesn’t happen over night. Think about it, this is the follow up to “Speakerboxxx” so it has to be all the way right so we gotta’ set it up right. The music is done and I can’t wait to put it down y’all throat.

Raptalk.Net: Do you have any films working right now? You’ve been doing the acting thing as well.

Big Boi: Most definitely. I put the film career on hold just until I finish this music. I have a stack of scripts at home. Music is my first love and I need to put this album out because it’s time for me to do my music thing. You’ll definitely see me on TV and movies because they’re calling me.

Raptalk.Net: What’s next up for Big Boi?

Big Boi: What’s next for me is putting together parts for the OutKast album. I’m just out here touring and promoting “Sir Luscious Left Foot.” I’ve been working with BlackOwned C-Bone and we still have Purple Ribbon Entertainment. We have the group Vonnegutt coming out and there featured on a song on the album called “Follow Us” by Salaam Remi. We’re just making this good music.

Raptalk.Net: It’s Lunatic with www.raptalk.net and we have Big Boi here; do you have any last words before we let you go?

Big Boi: To all the fans and everybody else out there that has been supporting me and has been down with us since day one, we definitely love y’all and have y’all in mind. The music is coming so stay tuned.

Raptalk.Net: Let’s get C-Bone in here! What you got going on C-Bone?

BlackOwned C-Bone: What’s up Lunatic?

Raptalk.Net: How are you?

BlackOwned C-Bone: It’s good to see you.

Raptalk.Net: I’m glad you hit me up, I appreciate that.

BlackOwned C-Bone: Did you see the show?

Raptalk.Net: I thought you guys had one of the best sets out there. Closing out with “Kriptonite” was a great idea.

BlackOwned C-Bone: Ok, no doubt.

Raptalk.Net: Let www.raptalk.net know what you have going on? You know we premiered that “Star Wars” record for you.

BlackOwned C-Bone: BlackOwned C-Bone, the number one pick on your dope boy team, College Park Georgia, Purple Ribbon in the house. My man Lunatic put out an article on my song “Star Wars” with my man Nite S.O.B. and that is blowing up on the internet and it’s blowing up in the streets. I’m just working the clubs real good and trying to appeal like that.

Big Boi: Tell them where they know you from. Y’all might not know but C-Bone has been on our albums and has been down for years. Y’all might remember him from “Gangsta Shit” on the “Stankonia” album and “Tomb of the Boom” on “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below.”

BlackOwned C-Bone: A gang of shit.

Big Boi: “Kriptonite” and there is a lot of stuff to come. I just wanted to give y’all the resume but I’m out, go ahead Bone and do that.

BlackOwned C-Bone: Nah, he covered everything. I appreciate that. College Park, Georgia, Purple Ribbon entertainment. My man Lunatic and B-I-G-, Rock the Bells.

Big Boi: It’s what we do!
