The Coup - Genocide n Juice CLASSIC!
« on: November 18, 2002, 06:55:43 AM »
Whatup Y'all,

For all you TRUE Westcoast Hip Hop heads you NEED to check out this classic Westcoast album;

The Coup - Genocide and Juice

I know some of y'all may be skeptical or unsure about this but check it out and you won't regret it.

Let me tell you a little story for those that are interested;
Back when I was 15 or 16 years old (I'm 23 now) a dude from Cali was at this party I was at in Sydney, Australia (which is where I live) and he had heaps and heaps of CDs me or my friends had never heard before. He also rapped and was real deep into hip-hop. I asked dude what was the ONE album I should check for and he said "That's easy. The Coup - Genocide and Juice". I was like "cool" but thought that I would never be able to find an underground release like that in the streets of Sydney. I checked a few record stores and there was no sign of it all and I kinda gave up but a couple of days after this I was secondhand CD shopping at I magically found it for $5. This was actually quite amazing because but CDs 2nd hand at that time in Australia you were lucky to FIND a rap album, let alone a good or rare one. Anyway the album totally blew me and all my friends away and I still bump it to this day. Check it y'all.

Cool, I respect those with an open mind. Just so you get know the album is not "gangsta" although it is "ghetto". The Coup use there minds and are fighting to make the political changes they desire but this album is not your typical gangsta shit. The Coup are reveloutionary and are too intelligent to promote violence on their own brothers and sisters, instead choosing to target those who really influence their poverty and hardships. All of this to straight FUNKY production make this album VERY tight.

Yeah they also have another album that came out earlier this year called "World Party". I haven't got it yet but the one song I heard called "5 Million Ways To Kill A CEO" is tight and is worth checking too.
I also heard they have another album coming out soon called "Steal This Double Album" which should be dope too.
