I2G kicked it with Chalie Boy for a exclusive interview. We discuss the success of his new single, I Look Good, his upcoming album, what he feels makes his singing and rapping style so unique to other music and much more so check it out.

Illuminati 2G is here with Chalie Boy how's it going?

Doing well thank you.

Tell me how you got your start in music and who are some of your musical influences out there.

I have been singing all my life. I started doing rapping around 2000. Influences in my musical career range from O Jays, Luther Vandross, Jagged Edge all the way from Fresh Kid Ice, 2 Live Crew, UGK, Grandmaster Flash. It is a range of different music and flavors and music is in my blood and I feel that I produce good music.

How did you get the name Chalie Boy for yourself?

My great uncle's name was actually Chalie, without a r. Growing up and going to school, the nickname people would holla out was ol boy to get peoples attention. I played football and every time I would get a tackle, they would holla out ol boy. Charles is my name, so it turned into Chalie Boy.

I see you have a new mixtape that is going to drop on Christmas Eve (download here: http://bit.ly/8QwRNi) entitled I'm Here. Tell me a little bit about the mixtape and what people can expect once it drops.

Well it has a little R&B style, little rapping style, it's a little bit of everything that I bring to the table. Just me showing off a little bit a showing people there are different styles to my music.

You have the new single out entitled I Look Good and the remix that is out as well. Tell me a little bit about how that single came together for you.

My engineer Jay Mark and I went into the studio with the track, it was produced by J B Eazy. I was in the studio and I started spitting thoughts out of my head, and just started putting verses together, came up with the song. Started blasting it out to the DJs and the fans, they got it hot and ran it to the radio and that is what you have today.

Are you surprised with the success of the single. I mean that is a song that has been steadily rising on 106 N Park and it has a good buzz for you. Did you know in the studio that it was going to be a hit?

After we sat down after the song was done, and mind you this song is really the first song that has hit mainstream, because I have been doing this music thing underground since 2000. I am going on 10 years in the game, so this is not just a overnight thing. Once we got through with the track and put it out, we was like man that is the one. We said if we are going to hit the radio, this track is it. We don't know how big it is going to be, but we are going to go with it and run.

I put my all into this song because I felt like it was going to rock, as well as keep a good feel. It is still going past the potential I gave it.

There have been many artists that have come out the last couple of years that have developed a style of singing and rapping on projects. What do you feel about your music that separates you from other artists that are out there?

Honestly I leave that up to the fans. They stay the same regardless in the sense that they choose if you stay relevant or not. All I know is that I make music that makes me feel good and in that attempt to make me feel good, I hope that it makes the fans feel good. Because I try to keep it as close to true to life as possible. I am a entertainer and my goal is to entertain and make music that people like to hear, but alot of people like to hear down to earth and talk to me type music.

I create that kind of music and well as entertaining music. I just hope that the fans continue to vibe and connect with me being as real and heartfelt in my music as they want to hear it.

Is there any details that you can give about your new album?

We are looking to release the album in early 2010, which will probably be self titled. That is pretty much all that I can say right now, I don't have any features right now. The main focus is to create projects, no date is set but we will construct songs with some in mind. But for the most part it is myself putting in work.

Being like you said, you have been on the music grind for almost 10 years, do you now with being on a major do you approach the music differently? As opposed to the music you release on mixtapes and street albums that you have done in the past?

No, no no. Same level, more intensity. On the underground circuit, if you are not creating music and putting out music, then you are irrelevant. I never plan or choose to be irrelevant. I will not be that if I have a choice. You have to stay focused and stay grinding and get it out there. Just because you are signed to a major, only means that you have a major label as a stamp. That does not change the fact that you have to work, get your face and your name out there, produce, because once you stop producing, you are no longer relevant.

That is a excellent point that you just brought up. Do you have any upcoming shows or tour dates coming up that you want to let the people know about?

Man my schedule is so hectic right now. My brain is rocking, I am just trying to keep it all together. But, stay focused with me on www.myspace.com/chalieboy. You can contact and keep up with me on twitter, www.twitter.com/d3chalieboy.

Alright well that is all the questions I have for you. Appreciate you getting down for the interview. Is there any last words or shoutouts you want to get out there to the people?

Appreciate the fans for making I Look Good what it is and continuing to make it what it is. Therefore making me what I am because you represent me, I am just trying to keep you represented and put on. Appreciate you for the love and support and I am going to continue to do the best I can.

Appreciate the interview

No problem you are very welcome.
