Favorite Common albums..
« on: November 28, 2011, 12:34:34 PM »
I only got into Common a few years ago and I loved his "Be" & "Finding Forever" albums. The next one was the weird Neptunes electro one, was straight crap.

Those are the only three Common albums I've heard..

So my question to y'all is if I dig the "Be" & "Finding Forever" albums (y'all know that sound, east coast shit), what other Common albums would I enjoy?

definitely not Electric Circus. it's not a bad album, but it's something different, like UMC (which I like). try One Day It'll All Make Sense and Like Water for Chocolate

Rap is not real, I don't care what they told you,
Fake people say fake things in their vocalbooth
- Soul Position - Mic Control

I make it hard to read me, graffiti flow - Rakim - Word On The Streets

Wow, you've NEVER heard 'Like Water For Chocolate', 'Resurrection' or 'One Day It'll All Make Sense'? You're missing out on his best material, bro.

I know Resurrection is seen by many as his best album, but personally my favourite has always been Like Water For Chocolate. He's only really had two poor albums though, which are the aforementioned Universal Mind Control and Electric Circus. But to be fair, both of them had the odd banger here and there on them.

LWFC and Be are probably my favorites, but tbh I don't think Common has any wack albums...

I really look forward to his new album. The songs I've heard so far are really tight. Common and No ID have a great chemistry together.

Resurrection, Like Water For Chocolate, and One Day Itll All Make Sense are all ridiculously good albums so check those 3 out. Cant front Never heard the first one so I cant tell you about it but its most likely pretty good. UMC and Elec Circus stay away from.

the great thing about common is that different people all fuck with different records. i think dude is kinda over-rated for that reason, i mean he connected with a few different eras of rap so he has that whole career-longevity angle, but he was lucky to recover from some of those albums. i mean people STILL wanna hear new common (hell i even wanna hear new common) after UMC.... you know who he was tryin to connect with on that record, imean THE DUDE DID A SONG WITH THE JONAS BROTHERS. i mean who the fuck gets another chance after that

e:my fav record is be, kanye out-did himself on that one. rapping wise? idk i mean water for chocolate had some great lines but that album was a fucking mess. and i love that neo soul shit AND that dilla shit AND i love badu and i  STILL dont like it.

Be is his best album in my opinion, then Finding Forever.  I too got more into Common after he dropped "Be".  I went back and checked out his older albums.  There are some good songs here and there, but nothing as good as Finding Forever and Be.  UMC sucked, he tried to go pop and bombed out.  The few songs i've heard from his new album "The Dreamer/The Believer" sound good, so i'm holding out hope for this one that he's going back to the Chi Town soul sound.  Of course "The Light" is a bomb song too.
