The Nike Battlegrounds at Venice Beach
« on: June 29, 2003, 01:13:55 AM »
I went to this shit today, it was pretty damn tite. It was at Venice Beach in CA.
I didn't realize that they promoted it that hard, cause man it was SOOO crowded...I am suprised nothin happened because it was hella gangbangers there.
It was a one on one tourney with 8 dudes. Some of the ballers were kinda weak but like 3 or 4 were pretty tite. The best parts were the freestyle battles and the dancers. LOL I think L.A. crowds are shadier than in NY...they barely ever cheer for people, even if it's people from L.A that are rappin or singing..u BETTER come tight or they will boo before u get a word out.
I haven't seen so many females at one place in a minute...it was hella girls out in their beach outfits lookin goood.
The winner got 10,000 and is goin to NY to play in August.

Oh yeah, I forgot the funniest part.

This mexican dude was beatboxin, and dude is dope as hell, he's from L.A. but I forget his name. But he had a 11 or 12 year old white boy rappin, and everybody saw him grab the mic and was like 4 real? he was rappin some regular shit, nobody was booin or anything, but his closing lines were "i don't write my rhymes, but thats okay/ neither does dr. dre!!!" and the crowd was all like oooooohhh!!!!
