Let's be real: is Hi-C gonna hit?
« on: January 08, 2004, 09:28:49 AM »
I know everyone is waiting on this album. Fuck it, it seems like 'Let Me Know' dropped years ago now :)

But the longer I wait the more I think this album is going to flop big time. I know it will be dope - I have no concerns there. But will it be a hit, even on a small scale? I just don't see it.

I know Englewood thinks Rap-A-Lot can give it a good push, but let's be honest - however much respect the label has from it's history, it's not a big player now. Fuck, in the past six months or so I've walked into the record shop and seen new CDs by Facemob and Do or Die that I had no idea were dropping.

I think Hi-C will become another one of these. I don't want to see it happen, but that's what I predict. Any thoughts?

true. not enough promotion, plus if it did get promotion it would be drowned out by the chingy's and nelly's and bullshit cuz h-c is for the older generation of rap listeners

^i know it's fucked and rap-a-lot is still one of the hottest labeles out there as far as droppin' quality albums they just don't promote there artists right... Do or Die's album had some really nice cuts... "Do U" f/ Twista could of been a huge hit... Yukmouth with the right promotion and a single for "Kidnap U" could of been huge... Rap-A-Lot got alot of heat but it all gets slept on anymore... They got Devin 2... Devin the Dude is the shit...

My point exactly ;) Labels and artists alike have to realise that  you can't fuck fans around.

Buzz dies - if anyone involved with this project had any sense the album would have dropped when 'Let Me Know' and 'Do It' were tracks everyone was talking about. Every week that goes by now and every false release date is a percentage of potential sales lost.

I'm not dissing Hi-C. This is one of my most anticipated albums right now. But, without knowing any full inside story (any news Englewood?) a lot of people appear to have dropped a lot of balls on this one :-\

Seems to run in Quik's camp too... anyone honestly believe we'll see Suge Free this quarter?... :'(

heh... I was relying on Englewood to drop by, lol ;)

I hope you're right, homie, I really do. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to see Hi-C even just go gold. I just got so many doubts :-\

Don't wanna put you on the spot, but is there anything you can tell us? At all? I respect the fact that you don't wanna give any game plans away - you've got the contacts for inside info and I'm sure you don't wanna jeapordise that by running off the mouth... But after all the wait, and with Rap-A-Lot as wack at promotion as we've discussed, can you do any grass-roots promotion and let us know just why we should still be waiting for this?

Pretty please? :-* ;)
