What the West Need
« on: March 18, 2004, 10:42:04 AM »
I' m trying to figure out what do the West need to take back over the game. I think we need to start at home and start having functions and jumpoff's, also the Radio plays a big part, everytime I turn on the radio especially 100.3 the beat in LA I hear the South, which is cool because I enjoy the music but dam I know the West can put it down like that as well. I remember Theo he used to play all the Westcoast up and comers but once he left I dont hear any up and comer get spins, he used to play Too Short to the LBC Crew and it was tight. I' am think thats what we need is more airplay and video play. What do you think?

Air-play and video play are the only things the West Coast really needs to stand in the spotlight. It's not like their music sucks ass...they just don't get that much of attention they should be having.

I think the rap-game will change soon...right now, the main focus is on the East & South. I assume the tables will start turning back to the West, that's just the way it goes I guess.

Of course video & radio play, but also, the West needs to support the West. Support that West Coast sound, and not hop on the East or South bandwagon.

so theyll become isolated?
itsa good thing theyre fucking with the east cause
1 hip-hhop needs unity now more than ever
2 if the east is getting radio play and the west doesnt, wouldn't it be the best thing for west coast rappers to work with east coast rappers - that do get airplay - so they'll have some exposure? (retorical question)

I didn't say they shouldn't work with East Coast rappers. I love seeing the East & West connect. They just shouldn't copy their style.

agreed ^^...remember back 10 years ago when it wasnt just one coast rulin it...east and west were both fuckin killin it on radio play...then shit started getting all poppy (on the east mainly) and that got the majority of radio play...the west kept it real and didnt do that shit...theres where the problem came in...the people who grew up w/ the music that came out after 99...are the same people who are fuckin up the rap game (fanwise)

We need the vets of the west to support the West....

How many WC acts were on the latest Ice Cube Movie?
How many WC acts has Dre got going at the moment while he is riding 50's dick?

The are the best know WC artists / Producers in the "popular" scene and until they push the young of the WC it aint gonna happen in the mainstream!!
