Judging by the replies, it doesn't seem like people disagree with me.  :)

people were happy to see him back, not happy to buy his album
Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

Turns out he barely outsoled his sophmore brick, "Double Up".   I was suprised to see this.  To be honest, I was even expecting 1 million sales in the first week, but then when I heard it wasn't gettin much spins on radio and MTV, I reduced my estimate to 500,000.  Still it fell well short of even that number.

I'd like to hear some opinions on why this album didn't put up big numbers.

1 mil? no way bro

only ppl who can push those numbers are Nsync, eminem and...wait, thats it

I like the album, about 3.5 outta 5, i dont really skip a lot but no tracks really blow me away.  Reasons it didnt sell:  Wack first single, not everyone wants to hear a pastor's rap album, hes been gone 5 years, and with mase a lot of people never liked him to begin with, you either love him or hate him.   Besides, theres a long list of people who took his sound and updated it, so hes gotta compete with them now too...............i dont really think 170, 000 is that bad though, not bad at all.   Especially when his last album didnt sell that great either

Only a fucking idiot (and that IS what you are Hajj) would think Mase could sell 1,000,000 first week!  You have to be either, Backstreet, N Sync, Eminem, or have an incredibly catchy single like In Da Club to do numbers like those.............

but really, the album isnt that wack, i mean what were you all expecting?  Its not much different than his old shit, but no cursing and the beats arent quite as good as when he rolled with Puff, although this album IS much better than his last one.

Another answer:  The Will Smith clean, feel good, jiggy shit era happened in 98.  If Ma$e was like that in 98, it would've sold but luckily Fab picked up right where he left off.
