The only thing that is better in the first batch than anything else is Illmatic, the other 3 are  wack/below averrage, The second is more solid mathematiclly thanks to the lost tapes, streets deciple and stillmatic and little thanks to god's son....btw, It could lean even more towards the second batch if the re-release of "Illmatic" was counted within :)

i wouldn't say the re-release was that great. Sure, Illmatic is Illmatic and Illmatic is :o :o :o, but you can't count that, you'd have to look at the difference between the OG Illmatic and the re-release; better sound quality, ok you barely notice that, nice booklet maybe, but the bonus dis had only 4 (mediocre) remixes and two other joints...not all that IMO

yea, I guess the same album can't aply to both batches, but I don't even consider the second disc, I consider it to be a bonus disc, As soon as I heared a better sound quallity  Illmatic was in stores I didn't hesitate to buy it(after all my old copy was raped due to heavy rotation)  , it's true  though it's real hard to notice the diff unless u got a proffesionally trained ear for digital mastering.

it wasnt great because it was missing the originals:
the world is your remix w/ q-tip
one love w/ sadat x
halftime remix

the 2004 remixes were good, though.

-oh yeah, i forgot how nas made on the real a solo. the original version was w/ cormega and screwball.

yeah, kinda sucks, but it's obvious you won't hear Cormega on a Nas album no more. I haven't heard that OG, but word as for the OG remixes, they should've been on. Also, they could have put on more old Nas material, even shit like Live At The BBQ and other pre-Illmatic stuff IMO
