Why Mac Dre's death is worse than other slain rappers deaths
« on: December 21, 2005, 05:55:57 PM »
Mac Dre had his sterdy following...like other heavyhitting mc's who been X'd out before his time..
Mac Dre was a master at trendsetting, from his vocab to his gear..
He was an extreme hard worker and kept on his toes to produce new material all the time..
but
theres is a difference with his tragic death compared to others like 2pac, BIG, Big L, and others..
And that difference is how gullable and dim witted his fans are..
when 2pac passed away his fans mourned and still do.. However you did NOT see people wearin their bandanas front side like the signature 2pac look..you did not see white boys tattooing thug life on their belly.. you didnt see them claim his slanguage or looks... BIG had many followers also..and when he passed his fans and fellow MC's made tribute songs which is understandable..that was close after his death and was a short duration, then after that we all mourned and respected the fact that 2 greats were lost and that we can idolize them but NEVER be them nor bring them back, sure we can learn and grow from them, but never BE them..
Mac Dre's death was quit different..
nor cal bay area rap is taken very serious by its locals..and understandably so cus from my opinion it is the outlet for the best gangster rap there is for sure..but when mac dre passed on
people, the fans, lost their own identity in the mourning of their lost mc..even MC's forgot that they had their own shoes to fill and suddenly were following the ass backward trend that had began to take place..
the fans/fellow MCs of mac dre no longer have their own slanguage, not only have they takin over his to the extreme but they use it in their regular speech as if the ghost of mac dre had crawled up their ass..their clothes are all gear that could've been jacked out of mac dre's closet..people forgot how to develope their own style unless it had a mac dre sample in it..
the fans even took it so far to make poppin e pills a lifestyle, cus of course thats how mac dre woulda wanted it right..all his fans to be brain fried by the time they mid 20s, that was his dying wish right..
for some reason I have a feeling if 2pac made songs dedicated to his love for acid, his fans wouldnt haul of and become an acid heads because he liked it..just a guess though
and now the music...bay area music is slippin because of the fans/MCs being caught up on something thats never gonna change..
he's gone..he aint comin back..its one thing to love and respect the man but dont trample all over the styles and speech he built..the best mac dre fan is the 1 who didnt start dressin like him and usin his slang constantly but the one who bumps his music and still has their independance..the best MC friends mac dre ever had were the ones that didnt have to name drop him in every solo project they ever did after his death and use his words to boost their sales..maybe a single song to show your respect..but then let it go..
It is a huge loss to the rap community but the even bigger loss out of this is the loss of creativity and style from the location that used to bring it the most
Nor cal
fans and rappers alike
can we start moving on and making real music again...
please

MCs like who? I agree some of his fans go way too far. I've seen folks at the club that got the afro, the stunna shades doin the thizz dance and they actually look exactly like him, but what rappers are you talking about? As far as I can tell all the rappers in the Bay still make the best rap music anywhere and still have their own identities and slang. Sure some people might make a "thizz" reference here and there but I dont hear nobody complaining when various rappers from pretty much everywhere use Keak's slang (Fasheezy and its many variations, Yadadimean and its many variations) or when people use some of the words from the plethora of slang that E 40 has contributed.

Well I actually do remember seein a lotta people start to wear their bandana like Pac, and some still do. Even some were rappers like Ja Rule and The "Realest". Pac didn't really have his own slanguage or anything like that though....but believe, EVERYBODY in the rap game was somehow "Thuggin" after Pac, and the word Thug just took on a new identity and had everybody tryin to be that because of Pac.
