First off, you should know about Pete Rock but if you don't it's cool, just pick up any album he's produced cause they are all great. He's one of the greatest producers ever.

9th Wonder is one of the best new producers. Little Brother's The Listening is one of the year's best albums and his remixes of the songs on Nas' God's Son are very nice too.

Yeah Pete Rock is a living legend, 9th Wonder is one hell of a dope producer, and 7L and Esoteric are a coo group, check some of their stuff first those, cause it's not as surefire dope as anything Pete and 9th have done.
