Shyne Was 50 Cent Before 50 Cent
« on: September 30, 2003, 08:03:01 PM »
Let's not lie here, aside from Em and Dre fueling the 50 mania, his persona is pushing him. That NY Superthug/gangsta/dopeman. Shyne came out the box on some gangsta shit, and everyone hopped on his band wagon. Everything in NY pretty much became gangsta after him. Then he got locked up. 50 comes out, and everyone is gangsta again. Why? Because that same image that Shyne used, 50 uses. Not to mention, Shyne could actually spit dope lyrics. And, when he got hardcore, not many could see him. I know this is a pro-50 site, but I don't care. I feel that Shyne is and always will be 10 times the artist that 50 is. Only thing 50 has is the ability to make catchy hooks.

Bad Boys vs. Wanksta = Bad Boys. Two tracks introducing both artists to the mainstream, Bad Boys set the tone for what Shyne was about, straight hardcore Hip Hop.

That's Gangsta vs. In Da Club = Tie. Two different tracks, but That's Gangsta got it's point across, as did In Da Club.

Bonnie & Shyne vs. 21 Questions = Bonnie & Shyne. Both tracks geared towards women who stay down with a cat when he's doing dirt. Bonnie & Shyne was better, plus Barrington Levy destroyed the hook.

Now that 50 has something to say about Shyne, keep in mind I made this comparison to Jome when 50 first came out commercially, maybe when Shyne gets out, if it's any time soon, he'll show 50 what's cracking.

Oh yea, and if people can hate on Fatal for dissing 50 just because of affiliation, then why not hate on 50 for dissing Shyne due to affiliation?

Ah, I see you've found your next person who got successful, that you can hate for it now.  At least we've still got the bay!

Uh...you're making no sense. I've been saying that 50 is the gangsta image of Shyne, mixed with the voice, flow and charisma of Mase, since he came out. Ask Jome.

I didn't say it was WHACK, but it comes nowhere close to "In Da Club". You and I both know that.

If we compare them lyrically, I don't see how it's not close, if not better than "In Da Club."

Where have I asked what people were listening to? I didn't notice that. I just stated my opinion. Too bad if I hurt you.

i have to say when i read the title of this i was totally ready to come in and argue that shyne is 1000 times better than 50...but what you said basically got my entire point right on the ball....i agree with you entirely...only diff. between the 2 was shyne had doper lyrics and didnt have as catchy hooks (which i think is a good thing)...but i think if 50 had bad boy production behind him he would probably be a bit more like shyne...either way...i cant wait for another shyne album.

word.

"In Da Club" was the biggest song since the early-mid 90's IMO...

5-10 years from now, they'll be looking back thinking it's our "Nuthin But a G Thing"...

Shyne is the rapper 50 cent will never be . Dude has great lyrics and dope style , 50 cent sounds like a mongo with great hooks !

Haha !
I dont think the people who apreciate good music will agree with you Represent .. I for one will never look at In da club like its my " g-thang " .

In da club = Maybe the most simple Dre beat I have ever heard . Plus the lyrics are sooo wack . Just another club song made with bullshit lyrics ... It sounds good when youre high or drunk though ..

Nuthing but a g thang = Introduced the world to the dog with the most funkiest flow , the beat is maybe the best g-funk beat ever made and the lyrics are straight westcoast classic shit . I remember first time I saw the video with all the lowriders , maaain ! Dopeness

The truth is if your ridin with Shady/Aftermath and your promoted in the way that 50 has been and the way G-Unit are being then your gunna blow up and everyone gunna jump on the dickriding bandwagon.

Sure 50's album was good but its all poppy and shit, its not straight up hardcore shit.  I suppose being poppy is the only way your gunna appeal to people overseas and around the world and shit and no doubt 50 used the whole poppy image to his advantage.  Hes a gangsta to the true hip hop/rap fans so we respect him for that, for getting off his ass and making something out of his life and not becoming another victim of the ghetto streets, but to all the teenage girls and the young kids who are still deciding what the fav music type is he is nothing more than a pop idol.

I like 50 cent don't get me wrong and I liked his album but to me it was just like hearing the same shit that everyone spits on the mic.  I'm a gangsta, I've sold drugs, I've been shot, truth is he blew up big time because he was on Shady and had Eminem and Dre behind him.

I agree with SGV.  Shyne spat sum true gangsta lyrics and could flow with the best of em.  If he came outter jail now and signed to shady then no doubt he would blow up too because he would get given the same image as 50 cent and he would have the same promotion as him.

Glad peep's prop's Shyne..
Been preachin' his name forever on the forum.

His debut lp is mad underated...
as are his skillz with the pen.
His lp was kinda dismissed and brushed aside by most as a Biggie impression.
But Shyne had his own thing, now we got rapper's sounding like & using his words & Quotes. {the Game}

his 3 singles are "Classics"
"Bad boys"
"That's gangsta"
"Bonnie & Shyne"

I'll take a new Shyne over 50 anyday...
But there is still room for both of them. (I'm a fan}
But let's not get it twisted Shyne would tear 50 apart on the mic {unless he ask's his master 4 help} ImO.

B.T.W.
FUCK Diddy. {fucken snitch}

I actually agree. IMO Shyne was the only dope rapper Bad Boy ever had besides Biggie of course. But I disagree with yo song comparisons. "Bonnie and Shyne" was wacc as fucc. I almost started to dislike Shyne after I heard it. "21 Questions" ain't much better, but it's a bit more tolerable than the other. However, "That's Gangsta" and "Bad Boys" were bumpin' wherever I was for like 2 months when they were hot. I loved hose traccs. If indeed Shyne is released from prison soon, that'd be siccccc if he joined with G-Unit.

I don't see a clear/good point.
Being a N.Y. drug kingpin/supergangsta isn't exactly something you copyright, as 100's of rappers got that image/style.
