So rap has always had a very negative image, many people consider it horrible for the brain, call it garbage, say it rots the brain, say its not music, etc.

I personally have learned quite a bit from rap music.  I would even go as far to say that I have learned more from rap than I did in some of my college classes.  I really don't feel like typing out any examples of things that I have learned from it, but I have learned a lot from listening to rap.

So what's your guys opinion?  Have you learned anything from rap?  If your not as lazy as me feel free to give some examples of things you have learned.  (we all know already that Ja Rule is a waste of a recording studio, so no one bother telling that you learned that.)

yeah i have...i've learned a lot (like seer said) about life...but its only certain rap...i havent learned shit from 50 cent or warren G or Baby...i've learned shit from the really quality artists (while warren G is quality he's never taught me anything)

warren G taught me that I can't be no geek off da street.  I gotta be handy wit da steel to earn my keep.

Just smile for me now.   Yeah, that's also one of those statements I try to live by.

I've learnt a lot. Being from Spain, I've learnt a lot of English and slang. The problem is...I forgot how to speak English without slang and cussing! And that's a problem, specially when you gots to talk to somebody and can't help calling him bitch ass nigga or muhfucka. Thanks Kurupt! LOL.

And yeah, learnt a whole lot of things about life, about people, about hoes, about the music biz...

Listen to Warren G's 3rd verse in "what's love got to do". Perfect example of how the music biz is, real tight verse. Warren's down to earth and his sayings are always something to keep in mind.

Well for people who usually doesnt speak english it's true. Rap helps. Doggystyle, 2Pac, Ice Cube, whoever.. you listen to them rapping in English, you read their lyrics (the first times), you translate their lyrics, you listen to them again, you sing it, you repeat it, you use their words.. it's like that. It's funny but it's like that! I speak 2Pac-English! LMAO!
