quiks musicianship aint really all that.. he uses session musicians just like dre does and his earlier stuff was all samples.. just like dre's..  quik says dre is the greatest.. why not believe him ?

In the rap game alone Dre can't be touched.  NWA, Himself, Snoop, Eminem, Himself Again.. 50 Cent.. actual success outside the rap game is another matter.. but what can't be denied is that a wide range of non-rap people have given dre major props and he's worked with legend in other areas


if you an artist and were offered a primo beat (which is ALWAYS a flipped sample) or a dre beat.. what would you take?

replace primo with anything else for whoever you're championing..

To the threadstarter, I don't know what the fuck you are talkin about sayin dre supervised AEOM. Dre DIDN'T shit on that album except for produce two songs. In the making of AEOM the producers, engineers, guest artists...they all said dre didn't do shit on the album except for the two songs. You are reachin higher than pluto to include AEOM on the list. It's very insulting, incorrect, and criminal to the ppl who actually PRODUCED the album to say dre is responsible for the classic that is AEOM.

I don't know when tupac said that. If he did, it prolly was in a different context or he was sayin that cuz he gassed to be workin wit dr.dre. Either way everything I said are not rumours, it's FACTS. BTW, I agree wit you Dre is the greatest producer of all time based on impact, influence, and catalogue. NO ONE has produced as many classics albums as he had...to me there is a big difference between producin a few songs for each artist and producing an entire album for the artist. This is where beatmakers and producers are defined.

Chronic, Doggystyle, Straight Outta Compton, No One Can Do It Better, Niggaz4life, Chronic 2001, The Documentary are all enough proof for me to call him goat producer. He has changed his style many times over the years too. The only producer I can see beatin dr.dre is dj quik. Dj quik doesn't have the impact/influence obviously, but his musicianship, creativity, and versatility is UNRIVALED. period.

1. are you daring enough to say that enter the wu bringing back the east is more important than SOC putting a whole coast on the map and influencing rap, rock, and everything 'hardcore'  heavily from 88' on? Yes. 

Let it be known that SGV has just said that enter the wu is a more important album than straight outta compton. just for the simple fact that it was ONE out of THREE albums that helped the east coast stay in the game .

with this stroke of his fingers he's saying that:

1. enter the wu's impact is better because it brought shine to a coast which was already established and shinning on the charts......in essence he's saying this is more important than taking a whole coast from ground zero to the the very top

2. enter the wu's impact and influence is better even though it didn't affect any other genre than east coast hip hop ......in essence he's saying this is more important than setting a new standard for heavy metal, radio rock, r &B, and just about EVERY SINGLE hard core hip hop record since it's release

dirty soul samples started with rza? <gives the people's eyebrow>....are you really saying that? do i need to take you down a trip to the golden era of hip hop? the bomb squad didn't even invent that but i'd respect you saying that more than if you said rza, sgv NO ONE is using rza's style from enter the wu anymore....and no one is using his style now.... when dre dropped the chronic, every thing was dirty, choppy sampled music, no one in hip hop really sat down and tried to make a smoothly produced record, true no one is using g funk anymore but thanks to the chronic and doggystyle and more importantly IMO to niggaz 4 life, every one in the game is making records like that. to quote puffy "dre brought rythm and melody into to hip hop" i don't see anyone like kanye or timbo or just blaze  sittin around making cream or wu tang clan ain't nuthin to f wit. there might be a few flavor of the moment under ground dj's thowin some shit around, but i don't see any classics being in the made of the style of RZA,  u know what i see and hear people laying it down with muscians and making smooth records, like dre did in 91' . also dre's prodcution hasn't ended with the chronic and doggystyle.....he kinda dropped an album in 2001,  that has been widely imitated....the only other  current producers who can say they've been as imitated in the past 7 years is kanye lil jon and timbo.

3. The Wu dropped in an era that was DOMINATED by the West, they clearly made their mark with one album and proved that the East WAS a force to be reckoned with once again. The East hadn't seen something like that since PE.

true that happened but still that's not more impressive than dropping an album during a time 100% controlled by the east and making it the center point of music until 97 when the south took over.also when that album dropped enter the wu didn't completely kill off the west or make the east coast "cool again" over night.nas still had to drop illmatic and big still had to drop ready to die, before all this "east coast is back" hoopla began. the west was the biggest thing in hip and music from 92-early 97. these albums didn't revolutionize the game they just showed that the east wasn't dead.  props to the wu, nas , and big but still these three albums don't compre to straight outta compton's impact on not only hip hop but MUSIC

4. How am I being ignorant? No real proof? Any white rapper that came out was automatically an Eminem clone, regardless of how different. Chino XL was the father to Em's whole style. Everyone knows that. Then it was Esham. Listen to the Cage's, Eyedea's etc. they all have that same whiney voice with heavy punchlines. Hell, any Underground rapper sounds that way. But, if someone came off like that, they were biting Em. The reality of it was they weren't. Eminem was using the same style as they used, he just happened to blow. Me not liking MMLP has shit to do with it, the fact that I didn't see it's influence anywhere does.

JD has a range of hits and classics. From Bass to R&B to Hip Hop. That's what makes him versatile. Dre's true hits and classics do not really expand past Hip Hop. That's why JD is more versatile.

-dre early in his career has proved he could make r &B records , i don't know why you keep tyring to saying he's not as versatile as JD, dre's actually made straight up traditional marvin gaye, anita baker type, soul records. i strongly suggest you peeop michel'le's first album, peep murder was the case again, and even peep some wcwc stuff too. 
-dre's worked with classical composers, old school jazz writers, legengds like burt bachurach, dre's dabbled in rock music , dre's dabbled in more genre's with more critical accaim than jermain dupri, and this is a fact, not my opinin......to  me this is more versitile than saying "well JD has produced for mariah carey and usher." also keep in mind HOW JD comes up with his sounds, he's been known for copying what's hot at the time. how creative is that? i applaud him for making good records but u can't credit him at all for being inventive. u can't credit him at all for "making" super stars" u can't credit him with have an real impact on musc. u can't really credit him all for doing much except making the same recrods some else already made.

Anyways Dre has a record that can't be matched in the world of rap.  If you get outside of rap, there's maybe 4 or 5 people on a production level who have done what dre's done, exibited by the albums shown above.  As far as just quality work?  Almost everybody falls down before him.  What, shortlist we could say Quincy Jones, Phil Spector, George Martin, and then you start hitting a brick wall.  You know how I am, I wouldn't even put Brian Wilson on Dre's level of success, from a production standpoint alone.

I don't believe that bullshit about Daz producin some of the songs on Doggystyle. He would have gotten credited for it; he was given credit for programmin the drums on 'Rat Tat Tat' on The Chronic, so why not Doggystyle? Plus alot of ppl that said Dr.Dre stoled beats...I'm startin to believe they said that out of jealousy. I could imagine a Deathrow producer makin a beat...it didn't sound quite right...Dr.Dre walks in the rooms, hears the beat, knows the exact fix it needs, and ends up fixing the beat to make it hot. It may have been only a little fix, but that little fix makes a BIG difference. I believe this ability is what makes Dr.Dre the super producer that he is. I could see the deathrow producer gettin jealous/mad as everyone would credit Dr.Dre for the beat since he fixed it even though he didn't produce it...

Plus alotta Deathrow was known for not properly assignin production credits...so if Dr.Dre got credit for a beat he didn't produced...he may not have been entirelly his fault...
