he writes some and he has an influence on whatever his ghostwriter writes, so its not like he gets handed some random 16 and he just spits whatever it says

A little history for yall. Yes, Dre brought the chronic in during the recording of his album, The Chronic, then once again for Snoop's Doggystyle album, but though he smoked occasionally, he was never into tha budd like Snoop and tha rest of tha Dogg Pound was. I was watching some special on VH1 and Snoop said "Yeah.... I'm more like Cheech & Chong, cause Dre don't really smoke...." when asked about him and Dre stayin smoked out. But, Overseer is right when he says that "Chronic" was a metaphor, because they were sayin tha album was tha funk, tha shit, tha best of tha best.


Honestly though, I could care less if dude smokes or not. As long as his production is bangin, and he drops that Detox album, fuck it, I'll be satisfied.

You gotta also ask, how does that drug thing affect someone like Jimi Hendrix?  Just because he happened to be fucked up when he wrote his hits, who's to say they wouldn't be even better without it?  You'll never know.  Look @ Brian Wilson.  He made great music high but made even better music sober.  It even got to the point that the music he made high was just jibberish you couldn't even release.
