West Coast Hall Of Fame
« on: February 28, 2006, 05:26:18 PM »
If we were 2 hav a west coast hall of fame, who shud b in it and y?

Gonna start it off wit a few obvious:

NWA - the 1st ones 2 take it 2 the world on a big scale.
Dr. Dre - Bin around since day 1, Chronic-Classic, 2001-Classic, guaranteed hit maker, guy behind making loads of artists.
2Pac - All Eyez On Me-Claasic, sold millions, legacy still goin .
Snoop - 7 big sellin solo albums n still bringin west coast 2 the masses 2day, 13 years later.
Eazy-E - Woz the first Gangsta Rapper the world got 2 c.
Ice Cube - Woz in NWA, big solo success n still speaks the truth.
DJ Quik - Had countless hits as an MC & a producer.
Nate Dogg - Classic hook man, bin on all the classics, Chronic, Doggystyle, All Eyez On Me, 2001, Regulate etc.

These r just sum of my OPINIONS, wot y'all think?
I will believe Detox when I hear a single for it and have the album in my hands.
but what if you loose your hands before Detox drops?

Too Short would have to rate a mention aswell
Always talkin bout the cash he got, the little pesos for shows
And God knows his materialistic raps and wack flows
are like Stay Free pads, fake V.I.P. rappers get garbage disposed
Unrecouped for his flamboyance and reflection
He's leasin rentin and frontin

Too $hort - To qoute Krayzie Bone "And this is were the pimpin beginning"
Above the Law - You can call them the true creators of G-Funk.
The Pharcyde - Probably the first big underground/non-gangsta rappers from the west.

I know this thread will be amusing. Everyone is going to mention someone just becuase they had one good album or 2 years of fame. :P

As for my own list.

2Pac
NWA
Dre
Snoop
Ice Cube
Eazy E
DJ Quik
Kurupt
Daz
Mac Dre
Ice T
Warren G
Yukmouth

EDIT: A couple more

Xzibit
E-40
Digital Underground

I'm still debating whether to put Nate Dogg on the list. On the one hand he's been on many classical songs, and has worked with everybody. On the other hand he hasn't put out anything classical himself. :-\

its like this in decending order

Dr. Dre
(the biggest contributor to rap period, not just west coast hip-hop)

Too $hort
(the first star rapper out of the west who was the first one to incorporate the pimp game, and ofcourse the word Beeyatch, that every body is using these days)

Eazy-E
(without this man, there would be no NWA)

Snoop Dogg
(the perfect rapper who complements Dre's beats, thats why snoop is weak right now without him)

Ice Cube
(the guy who wrote no vassaline, thats enough said)

Ice T
(the lesser too $hort of socal with a more gangsta influence)

MC Ren
(the best lyricist to come out of the west that everybody has slept on, dont agree?   just go check out the song Final Frontier of his album Kizz my Black Azz)

The Game
(you can already put him in because he brought our whole coast to the main stream, and hes gonna be here for a while)

E-40  ( 1st rapper to get a million dollar deal, introduces most of the slang game, 11 years later leads the new Bay Area revolution )

All members of NWA ( nuff said )

Too $hort & Ice-T ( Introduces pimpin' and a whole new breed of slang )

Snoop ( Made Westcoast "gangsta" rap commercially appealing )

Kurupt ( for a while, was the most feared MC in the game )

Hammer & Digital Underground ( the 1st cats to get "hyphy", 1st WC rappers to be commerically successful DU discovers 2Pac )
