After being convicted on drug charges last year and being sentenced to 14 years in prison in November, John Forte still found time to work on his sophomore LP. Forte recorded his album, I, John while he was awaiting trial and will drop on April 23. The album is said to have very little emceeing on it, and is mostly singing.

"The possibility of ending up here in the event of an unsuccessful trial... bleak days forced me to look within for another voice," Forte wrote to Entertainment Weekly from a Houston jail. "One of the songs, 'Reunion', has become an anthem around here [in prison]. I think it makes the inmates walk a little taller because someone is speaking about their lives- their feelings of exile and not wanting to be forgotten."
