Snoop dogg:nomination for Stoner of the year!

NEW YORK, NY – February 6, 2001 – The 3rd-Annual Stonys, HIGH TIMES’ Film Awards Show, will take place on March 3 at B.B. King’s Blues Club & Grill in New York. The nominations for 11 categories were announced today.

• Blow, How High, The Anniversary Party, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Brooklyn Babylon and The Wash lead the pack with four nominations each.

• The Stonys celebrate the counterculture in cinema and marijuana-friendly films. Last year’s big winners were Traffic, Road Trip and Grass.

• Previous Stony winner Jason Mewes (Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back) is nominated in the Stoner of the Year category. His competition is Snoop Dogg (The Wash), Marlon Wayans (Scary Movie 2) and Owen Wilson (Zoolander).

• New categories include Best Foreign Movie, Best Original Song from a Movie and Best Psychedelic Scene. They join Best Movie, Best Stoner Movie, Pot Scene of the Year, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Documentary and Best Soundtrack.

• Apocalypse Now Redux will be given the first Thomas King Forçade Film Achievement Award. Thomas King Forçade founded HIGH TIMES in 1974.

• Snoop Dogg will attend the March 3 show at B.B. Kings. He will be joined by other to-be-announced nominees, special presenters and musical guests.

• "The Stonys are going uptown," says executive producer Steve Bloom. "We’re very excited about moving the show to B.B. Kings and having huge stars like Snoop Dogg join us."

• The Stony Awards Show will run from 8-10 pm. Comedian Jim Breuer (Half Baked, SNL) will host the show. The evening begins with a Green Carpet cocktail party from 7-8 pm

• After the show, at 10:30 pm, HIGH TIMES’ Cannabis Cup Band, plus special guests, will entertain the crowd with reggae and hip-hop.

• Tickets are available through Ticketmaster (212-307-7171), at the B.B. King’s box office (237 W. 42 St.) or through bbkingblues.com. Tickets are $50. This includes three-hour open bar, hors d’oeuvres, The Stony Awards Show and the afterparty with the Cannabis Cup Band. Tickets are also available just for the afterparty for $10.
