N*E*R*D:'Rock Star' Video

Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo of the production team the Neptunes and two-thirds of the alternative hip-hop group N*E*R*D spent Thursday (January 24) in Sherman Oaks, California taping the video for "Rock Star-Poser," the second single from their album, In Search Of..., now scheduled to be released March 12.

In the video directed by Hype Williams, the trio, which also includes rapper Shay Thorton, captures the group dressed in '60s Beatles-like garb, emulating the group's performance on the Ed Sullivan Show. Hugo explained the video's concept to LAUNCH.

"We just wanted to put a twist on things, 'cause like the whole album is not like really a hip-hop album. It's more like a mixture of different things," he said. "And the last great group that we remember that's just musical is...and the musical Gods to me, and us, is the Beatles. So we kinda had like a Beatlesque theme to it. Just people having fun, you know, just people being a little different, dressing up in suits, and just having a good time with it."

A few of the group's celebrity friends stopped by the set to lend the group support: Beyonce Knowles of Destiny's Child, and Hugo's protege Kenna, who is signed to Fred Durst's Flawless imprint.
