Why are they not adding up the numbers of my bench players? I've never played a fantasy league before, someone needs to explain that to me...

You don't get points from bench players.

Then what do you get from them?

Nothing. They are there so you can switch players when those players are doing good or your starters are doing poorly.

Yeah you can switch 'em daily, then when your starters aren't playing you can plug your bench players in their spots, theres no difference between utility and position spots, they count for the same thing

I believe I was so confused that I actually dropped Drew Gooden and picked him up a few weeks later, and I think I'll drop him again soon...For now, this is how my team looks (after all the changes):
