I ask this question because I read that copyrights on the artist's music are only good up until 70 years after the artist's death. So after that 70 year mark hits, what happens then? Does the rights to the music go up for auction, or does the copyrights automatically shift over to this family, or what?
I think by then nobody is going to be listening to Tupac so it really wouldn't matter. He'll be like Betthoven

(not that it matters)I think when the copywrite runs out you can use the music as you wish all you have to do is pay the writers, I don't think anybody can "own" it after that period. There's a debate about this going on in the UK just now because the copywrite runs out after 50 years and a lot of artists want it extended.
