I know Hamrlik got overpaid but how can you compare the 5.5 he got this year to the salary Pronger got back then? Doy ou seriously think Pronger wouldnt get 9-10 millions on the open market this year? The maximum salary went from 7 to 10 millions, so expect some players to have bigger salaries.

By bringing Kostopoulos, the Canadiens only added some grit and leadership to the team, you can never have too much, ask the Buffalo Sabres where skills bring you when all of our forwards are soft.

The hate for Kovalev is ridiculous, he had a good season before having a disastrous one this year... He IS to blame, but I believe he can rebound and have a better year if he doesnt play with Lapierre.

As far as the predictions goes, it always makes me laugh how year AFTER year, people still think the most stacked teams win anything... Last year, the Boston Bruins added Zdeno Chara + Marc Savard, both premier players in their position and they had a terrible year, they were FAR from making the playoffs. This year since the players spent a year together, they may get better but don't expect the last place Philadelphia Flyers to suddently become great because they changed their whole roster

Team chemistry is very important in hockey, that's why i'm happy with my team, who, before they slumped during christmas time, was only a couple of points away from the Buffalo Sabres. Gainey tried to sign big time players, but that failed, so he added veterans like Smolinski, Brisebois, Hamrlik and Kostopoulos, so the team can be more stable and don't slump like they did last year. I'm not saying we are cup contenders yet (Carey Price will change that) ,but don't write the Canadiens off, their young players like Higgins, Komisarek, Plekanec & Latendresse can only get better with time. The only teams I Know will be ahead of us are the Senators, the Penguins and the Rangers.

Got worse:

Buffalo: Lost their 2 captains, that's gonna hurt. ( Brière and Drury, aouch)
Devils : Lost their #1 D man and one of their most important forward (Rafalski & Gionta)
Flyers : Their GM played too much NHL 07, I dont think they will have any chemistry
Islanders: Last place

Got better:

Rangers: Drury & Gomez will help them in the playoffs.
Washington: They got a good player to support Ovechkin & Semin
Toronto/Florida: They got better goaltending now

also im amazed at your optimism for Vancouver, considering we have one scoring line and 3 lines of grinders, but then again we do have a solid defence and of course Luongo

A look at the East..
How did Carolina jump from 11 to 3 ?
Toronto and Boston are better then you give them credit for..
The only reason why you put the Canadiens 15th is because you're frustrated of the moves they made/didnt made, they will  be in the 6-10th spot range, read my previous post for justification..
lol the 15th in the East is the Islander's spot to lose
I dont think the Flyers will finish 6th.. with a roster like that, either they will click together and dominate, or... like I think, they will not jump from 15th to 6th

In the West now...

it looks pretty acurate but I think Colorado will be better then Dallas.. just a gut feeling
Calgary WILL make the playoffs in my opinion
Nashville won't finish that low, they still have some good players
For the Wilds to finish 6th, Gaborik will need to be more healthy, if he is, watch out!
Chicago can be a wildcard, but I don't see them finishing better then the teams you put ahead of them and I sure don't see them being better then the Flames.

Yeah i put them there cuz they won the divison last year i guess Minesota could over take them but i mean Calgary dosent have much offense and Edmonton well they dont have any defence, perhaps Colorado could take em over who knows, the teams are a lot more euqal these days.

Yes i am frustrated but honestly they were bad last year.
Carolina i think will finish first in the divison because i think last year was just a trip, they won the cup 2 years ago dont forget that and they basicly have the same team.

The West is gonna be tight almost every team has solid playoff potential minus Pheonix.
Calgary will most definately make the playoffs
I have feeling Chicago will sneak into the playoffs if they got some solid scoring and will do well if they can stay out of injury troublei
Edmonton is gonna have another shitty year, Kevin Lowe will be gone by the time the playoffs start, Souray pick up was aight, Penner was terrible
I think Minnesota will just miss the playoffs, NW is just too tough and I don't see them out doing Canucks, Flames of Avalanche

In the East I agree with BZ Mak,
I think Tampa will take the SE
Florida they've got a fine goaltender and some solid scoring lines, I think may'be Bert would have stayed had he still been there upon acquiring Vokoun
I think Toronto, NJ, Atlanta, Islanders, Carolina, Montreal, Philly, Florida will all be fighting for the final 3 playoff spots

How is Pitsburg gona do this year with the addition of MArk Eaton, Sydor on D and Sykora up front. Not to mention all the kids with one more year under they belt.
